The sixth-gen Honda CR-V sees over 11,300 units shifted since launch, and it now leads the C-SUV market space with a 36% market share, says Honda Malaysia.

Besides standing as the leading non-national passenger car brand in the local market, it appears that the mighty Japanese H-marque also boasts a stand-out leading product in the form of the latest sixth-generation Honda CR-V mid-sized crossover SUV.

Earlier today, Honda Malaysia revealed that CR-V sales have soared over 11,300 units since its Dec 2023 launch. The feat puts the model as Malaysia’s leading mid-size SUV in 2024, specifically in the C-segment SUVs (C-SUV) space where it holds a 36% market share.

Honda Malaysia MD and CEO Hironobu Yoshimura (right) revealed via a press statement today that sales of the 2.0 e:HEV RS variant of the CR-V have also exceeded expectations, and it accounts for 20% of the model's sales.

Honda Malaysia continued in noting that CR-V model sales in 2024 also marked a 40% year-on-year (yoY) growth in its segment. Overall, these are healthy figures indeed considering how this space is now properly crowded thanks to the arrival of several upstart Chinese-branded alternatives - like this and this.

“The petrol variants have also performed exceptionally well, with the E variant emerging as the top choice among customers, accounting for 40% of total CR-V sales,” says Honda Malaysia MD and CEO Hironobu Yoshimura, in terms of variant sales breakdown.

The CR-V in e:HEV RS form as featured stands as Honda's 'flagship' offering today, and it's priced at RM195,900.

Notably, sales of the electrified 2.0 e:HEV RS variant have exceeded expectations, contributing to roughly 20% of the nameplate’s overall sales. “This highlights the market’s positive response to Honda’s advanced hybrid technology, even with the highly competitive landscape,” adds Yoshimura.

In the grand scheme of things, the CR-V stands as Honda Malaysia’s third best-seller from its line-up. Altogether, Honda Malaysia had shifted 81,600 vehicles throughout 2024, marking a 2% increase over its 2023 sales total of 80,027 units.
