- Auto Shanghai 2025: Leapmotor B01 Sedan Detailed
The Leapmotor B01 sedan made its official debut at Auto Shanghai 2025 earlier today. Built on the same LEAP 3.5 platform as the B10 SUV, the B01 measures 4,770MM long with a 2,735 MM wheelbase, 1,880 MM wide, and 1,490 MM tall with a reported kerb weight ranging between 1,660 KG and 1,711 KG.
Dimensionally, the B01 sits slightly smaller than its C01 sibling, which stretches 5,050 MM long with a2,930 MM wheelbase, 1,902 MM wide, and 1,515 MM tall.
Visually, the B01 adopts a familiar language shared with the B10 and C10 crossover SUV models. It features a minimalist front fascia with a slim light bar and a closed-off grille. At the rear, a horizontal light bar echoes the front’s clean aesthetic.
The B01 offers two single-motor powertrain options. As reported prior, the base model delivers 177 HP, paired with a 56.2 kWh LFP battery that provides a WLTP-rated range of 420 KM. The higher-spec version bumps output to 215 HP and uses a larger 67.1 kWh battery yielding a longer WLTP-rated 530 KM range figure.
Like the B10 and C10, the B01 utilizes Leapmotor’s CTC 2.0 (Cell-to-Chassis) technology, which enhances cabin space, structural integrity, and charging efficiency. Thanks to its 800-volt architecture, fast charging from 30% to 80% takes just 19 to 20 minutes. AC charging, on the other hand, takes around 4.2 hours for the smaller battery and 5.6 hours for the larger pack. Both battery packs are sourced from CALB.
Inside, the cabin mirrors the B10 with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen powered by a Snapdragon processor running Leapmotor OS 4.0 Plus. Moreover, both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard infotainment - unlike the Leapmotor C10 model we sampled recently.
As alluded previously, a roof-mounted LiDAR system is offered as an option, whilst a Snapdragon SA8650 chip enables advanced driver-assistance capabilities for both highway and city navigation.
While the B10 SUV is confirmed for our market, the B01 is the model many are hoping to see here too. There’s a growing fatigue with the SUV trend, and this sleek sedan could be a breath of fresh air.
In China, the B01 is priced between RMB100,000 to RMB150,000 (RM 60,000 to RM 90,000). Given that the Leapmotor C10 model marketed by Stellantis Malaysia is currently underperforming, the B01 could present a strong alternative. Priced and positioned correctly, we reckon it might just be the EV that turns things around.
