Honda Europe celebrates the 30th anniversary of the CR-V by launching the Honda Dream Pod concept.

The Honda CR-V is turning 30 this year, and Honda is putting up a serious birthday bash for its beloved SUV model. For its 30th birthday, Honda Europe has made a camper-themed concept based on the current-gen CR-V, known as the Honda Dream Pod.

Inspired by Japanese capsule hotels, the Dream Pod concept is essentially a campervan version of the CR-V, where it features tons of camping and adventure gear over the standard model. Some key exterior features include crossbars on its roof, a Thule bike carrier at the back, and a special two-tone white and black paint job, to name a few.

More camping gear can be found as we get inside the Dream Pod concept, as Honda Europe has fitted the CR-V’s entire boot space with the EGOE Nestboard 650 camper conversion kit, featuring a double mattress that can accommodate two adults. For some privacy during nighttime, the rear windows also come with privacy screens, plus a retractable blind located at the front seats.

Besides the double bed, the Nestboard 650 also includes a built-in mini kitchen with a portable stove and a small sink, plus several storage compartments to store your utensils and tools. Rounding off the interior changes are the rubber floor mats, pull-out side tables, and ‘tech pods,’ with the latter appearing to combine LED reading lights with USB charging ports.

Befitting its campervan and adventure nature, the Dream Pod concept is based on the Europe-only plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant of the sixth-gen CR-V. The e:PHEV setup features a 2.0-litre 4-cyl Atkinson cycle petrol engine as the core, while the electrification part comes in the form of a single electric motor and a 17.7-kWh battery pack that promises up to 79 KM of EV-only range.

Given its concept form, it comes as no surprise that the Honda CR-V Dream Pod won’t be made into a production model, but buyers in Europe can get the same EGOE Nestboard 650 camper kit, which retails from €3,899 (RM19,601). Ultimately, this concept will give CR-V owners out there some ideas and inspiration on how to make their SUVs ready for outdoor adventures.
