- KDN Proposes MyDigital ID For Traffic Summons Payments
The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) is working to broaden the scope of the MyDigital ID initiative to include the settlement of traffic summonses. Although its current use is optional, Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, has confirmed ongoing efforts to improve its integration into governmental operations transactions.
Saifuddin also indicates that governmental approval has been granted to amend the National Registration Act 1959, thereby enabling the official and comprehensive adoption of digital identification.
“It is still a suggestion and has yet to be passed at Parliament, but we encourage the public to use the app for identification confirmation in all matters,” he added.
As part of the shift, the government is considering providing additional benefits to registered users. These benefits could include larger discounts when paying traffic summonses. Registered app users will also be given priority in their interactions with the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT).
“Previously, there was a 50% discount,” the Home Minister said. “With MyDigital ID, maybe it will be 55%,” the minister says.
