- Kelantan JPJ Denies Long Wait Times Allegations
The director of Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ), Mohd Misuari Abdullah, has refuted allegations that customers had to wait for hours due to only a few of the 15 counters being open.
He clarified that all counters were operational except during breaks, emphasizing that the department has been complying with an order from the RTD director-general to expedite counter operations since October of last year. Misurari however, expressed that he would welcome feedback from the public if any problems were encountered. “We have opened all 14 counters, and the remaining counter is used by the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad). However, some counters may be temporarily closed during break times,” he added.
Misuari added that he has been monitoring the counter operations through CCTV camera footage from his office and confirmed that they have been running smoothly without any complaints since October.
“Therefore, the claim that customers have to wait up to five hours is illogical. However, if someone did experience such a situation, I request more details on the incident so that action can be taken," he says.
A complaint was earlier lodged, alleging that the JPJ office in Panji functioned with a limited number of counters despite having 15, resulting in a five-hour backlog for vehicle transactions.
The department’s Director-General, Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, emphasized the importance of effective counter service as the department's primary focus was to enhance JPJ's public delivery system by reducing congestion and long queues.
He cautioned JPJ state directors and branch heads in September last year, that neglecting counter service or leaving them unsupervised would result in severe consequences.
