JPJ - Ban On Heavy Vehicle On Far Right Lane

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will introduce new standard operating procedures (SOP) and guidelines for commercial and public service vehicles starting next month.
According to its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, the move comes in response to the recent rise in accidents involving heavy vehicles, especially lorries.
He said the new SOPs will include stricter enforcement against commercial vehicle drivers who exceed speed limits and pose a danger to other road users.

“JPJ is currently fine-tuning the SOPs with input from various stakeholders. Our focus is on vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes,” he said.
Aedy Fadly added that the guidelines will also reinforce the ban on heavy vehicles using the far-right lane, as announced earlier by Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
He shared the update with reporters during the Terengganu JPJ Appreciation Ceremony and Aidilfitri gathering last night.
In a separate update, Aedy Fadly revealed that 8,862 accidents were recorded during the six-day Hari Raya Aidilfitri Special Operation 2025 (Op HRA 2025), which ran from March 24 to April 8.

The figure marks a drop compared to the 9,859 cases recorded during the same operation last year. He also noted a reduction in fatalities - from 119 deaths in Op HRA 2024 to 85 this year.
Aedy Fadly credited the decrease to greater public awareness on road safety, thanks to continuous advocacy efforts by JPJ and other enforcement agencies.
