- Zeekr 007 GT Debuts in China as Brand’s Most Potent EV Wagon
The all-new Zeekr 007 GT breaks cover in China as the brand’s most potent EV wagon, featuring up to 637 HP.
After months since its initial preview, Geely-owned premium automaker Zeekr has finally debuted its new all-electric estate model, which is also its newest global model to date, the Zeekr 007 GT. Unveiled as the sleeker, long-roofed version of the 007 saloon, the new 007 GT is not only the brand’s second wagon model after the 001 but also its most potent to date.
The potency stems from its dual-motor AWD powertrain setup primed in the top-spec model, capable of delivering a total system output of up to 637 HP (475 kW). This setup grants the 007 GT a sublime 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 2.95 seconds, which is slightly slower than its saloon twin’s 2.8-second century sprint time. Stopping power is provided by Brembo, which allows this sleek wagon to brake from 100 KM/H in 34.4 metres.
Those who don’t seek face-ripping acceleration can opt for the entry-level single-motor variant of the 007 GT, which uses a single RWD motor setup rated at 416 HP (310 kW). Besides rapid straight-line performance, the 007 GT also promises to deliver a decent balance between comfort and performance, as it adopts both the ‘Magic Carpet’ air suspension system and a continuous damping control (CDC) system.
Underpinning the same PMA2+ platform as both its sedan and SUV twins, the 007 GT comes with two battery options, with the first one being the Zeekr-developed 75-kWh LFP ‘Golden Brick’ battery that supports fast charging at up to 5.5C. This theoretically allows the 007 GT to be charged from 10-80% in just 10.5 minutes, making it one of the world’s fastest-charging EVs ever made.
Those seeking a longer travel range can opt for the larger 100-kWh ternary NMC battery unit that boosts its maximum CLTC range to 825 KM compared to 585 KM on the smaller battery. Regardless of batteries, both variants can support vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging at up to 60 kW speeds, thus transforming the 007 GT into a mobile charging station.
Visually, the 007 GT gets a pretty sleek wagon bodystyle, featuring familiar design cues adopted from both the 007 sedan and the 7X EV SUV. By far the most quirky feature on this EV wagon is the full-width 90-inch interactive LED bar at the front known as the Zeekr ‘Stragate,’ which can project images and text.
Besides that, some key design cues derived from its sedan and SUV twin include a sporty front bumper with active air intakes, a slanted bonnet line, slim LED taillights, retractable door handles, a sleek roofline with roof rails, 20-inch wheels, and many more.
Dimension-wise, the Zeekr 007 GT spans 4,864 MM long, 1,900 MM wide, 1,445 MM tall, and a 2,925 MM wheelbase. This puts it in the midsize estate category, where it will face competition from the likes of the Audi A6 e-tron Avant, Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, and many more.
Inside, the Zeekr 007 GT gets a host of comfort and luxury amenities, all laid out in a spacious cabin. Key amenities include a large 15.4-inch central infotainment screen, an oval-shaped LCD instrument cluster, a full-width 35.5-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), a three-spoke, flat-bottomed steering wheel, two 50-watt wireless chargers, a bespoke Zeekr Sound audio system with headrest speakers, and many more.
Thanks to its large facade and smart space utilisation, the 007 GT has an interior space utilisation rate of 83.5%, plus 36 storage spaces scattered throughout the cabin. Folding down the rear seats will expand the standard 645-litre boot space into 1,737 litres, which is more than enough for a full set of ski gear and some.
Thanks to the dual Nvidia Drive Orin X chipsets primed on the 007 GT, this EV wagon gets some of the best autonomous driving capabilities out there. Besides the usual ADAS functions like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), the 007 GT also comes with the General Automated Evasion System (G-AES), map-free Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) functions, and even a collision avoidance system that can be used at up to 120 KM/H of speed.
In China, the new Zeekr 007 GT is available in three variants, with prices starting from CNY 202,900 (RM122,407) for the baseline RWD 75 kW model, while the top-spec AWD 75 kW variant is tagged higher at CNY 232,900 (RM140,506). Being the brand’s latest global model, the Zeekr 007 GT will also be making its way into other international markets, including Europe, where it will be known as the Zeekr 7 GT.
