- MAS 2025: GAC M8 PHEV Bookings Opened – RM333,000 Est
WTCA is showcasing the GAC M8 PHEV once again at MAS 2025, this time with the order books finally opened for buyers.
In a sea of crossovers and SUVs, the GAC M8 PHEV is arguably a refreshing sight at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) happening this week at MAEPS, Serdang until May 15.
On display at the combined GAC Motor and AION booth in Hall A, brand importers, assemblers and distributors Warisan Tan Chong Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA) have also finally opened the order books for this electrified luxury MPV offering.
Early birds can now place their bookings on the GAC M8 PHEV at an estimated price tag of RM333,000. Two variant (Premium and Premium Luxury) will be offered at launch.
First previewed during KLIMS 2024, WTCA had initially targeted a Q1 launch for the M8 PHEV. With order books now opened, albeit a little later than planned, this Chinese alternative to the Alphard and Vellfire carries an estimated price of RM333,0000.
Touted as the first hybrid petrol-electric luxury MPV to officially go on sale locally, the GAC M8 is a sizeable thing indeed. As a refresher, it sits 5,212 MM long with a 3,070 MM wheelbase, 1,893 MM wide, and 1823 MM tall.





In terms of footprint, the GAC M8 PHEV dwarfs both the Alphard and Vellfire. In fact, it's closer in size to the all-electric Denza D9 and Zeekr 009 rivals.
Said figures sees GAC M8 PHEV dwarf both ‘traditional’ Toyota choices mentioned. It also brings it closer in size to the rivalling all-electric Denza D9 and Zeekr 009. Additionally, two variants will be available – Premium and Premium Luxury.
Underneath, the plug-in hybrid petrol-electric powertrain consists firstly of a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol base engine. Mated to which is an e-motor plus a sizeable 25.57 kWh battery pack, altogether outputting 373 PS and 630 NM.
The PHEV powertrain primed in the GAC M8 PHEV promises 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 8.8 secs, fuel economy as low as 6.05 litres/100 KM, and up to 106 KM of electric range.
Managing said outputs is a unique 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). Altogether, this setup allows for century sprints desptached in just 8.8 secs, claimed fuel economy of 6.05 litres/100 KM, electric-only range of up to 106 KM, as well as a combined total range of 1,032 KM.
As for charging times, WTCA touts a DC fast-charging time of 30 minutes. AC charging, on the other hand, takes a longer 3.5 hours.
The cabin's key highlight are the second-row 'Captain's Chairs'. These are brimmed with ottoman, massage, ventilation, power adjustment, and memory function, amongst many.
On board, the GAC M8 PHEV sports a three-row, seven-seat layout featuring a second-row ‘Captain’s Chairs’ brimmed with ottoman, massage, ventilation, power adjustment, and memory function plus built-in 5-inch armrest displays, and a 15.6-inch roof monitor.
Up front, the dash is brimmed with both a 12.3-inch digital instrument display panel plus a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen. The latter is also paired up with a 16-speaker audio suite supplied by Yamaha.

Over on to driving assistance systems, the GAC M8 PHEV brings Level 2 semi-autonomous abilities as standard. In other words, Malaysia-bound units miss out on the brand’s trick ADiGO Pilot suite and its Level 3-rated assistive abilities.
Lastly, in terms of after-sales, WTCA is set to offer the GAC M8 PHEV with a 5-year or 150,000 KM base vehicle warranty, followed by an 8-year or 150,000 KM hybrid battery warranty.
Additionally, WTCA adds that at launch, the a special early bird package will also be offered, and it brings a complimentary maintenance package plus a complimentary charging cable.
