Chery has officially brought its Global Safety Challenge campaign to Indonesia, making it the second stop in a series of real-world safety tests. This phase focuses on the safety of Chery’s plug-in hybrid battery systems in extreme humidity — an important concern for tropical markets.

The star of the campaign is the Tiggo 8 Pro CSH, Chery’s flagship plug-in hybrid SUV, which is expected to launch in the Malaysian market later this year. The vehicle will undergo a series of tests designed to prove its durability and battery reliability in Indonesia’s rain-soaked, high-humidity environment almost similar to that in Malaysia.

Besides this, the same model was also put through a dramatic 48-hour test in China, where it withstood a seven-car vertical stack in Wuhu. That test followed others involving spiral rollovers and dual-vehicle collisions, underscoring Chery’s commitment to rigorous safety benchmarks.

In Indonesia, Chery is focusing on local challenges such as flooding and prolonged humidity. The company aims to demonstrate that its vehicles can perform safely and reliably even in some of the toughest environments.

This campaign is part of Chery’s broader ‘In Somewhere, For Somewhere’ strategy which reflects the brand’s effort to adapt its products to the specific needs of each market.

Following Indonesia, the Safety Challenge will continue in other key regions, including South Africa, Brazil, and Mexico. Each location will bring its own environmental challenges as Chery works to raise global standards for hybrid vehicle safety.

In Malaysia, the first model featuring Chery’s CSH technology will be the Tiggo Cross Hybrid, with deliveries slated to begin in August 2025.
