Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has announced that Jalan Raja will undergo a week-long closure from June 9 to June 15. This closure affects the segment in front of the Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad Building, specifically the stretch from Jalan Tun Perak to the Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman intersection.

While traffic diversions will be in place to maintain flow, light vehicles will retain access to turn right onto Jalan Tun Perak from Jalan Raja.

“However, vehicles from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Tun Perak will not be allowed to enter Jalan Raja. Signage and enforcement officers will be put up to assist road users to adjust to these adjustments,” DBKL stated. Due to the road closure, GOKL, RapidKL, and Hop On Hop Off (HOHO) bus services will experience temporary route adjustments. Passengers seeking details on these changes, including affected routes and bus stops, should contact their respective service providers directly.

This closure is a component of DBKL's plan to make Kuala Lumpur's downtown more livable, pedestrian-friendly, and well-organised. For pedestrians, particularly families, kids, the elderly, and people with disabilities, a larger and safer area will become available with this effort.
