- Mazda CX-60 Now Open for Booking by Dealers – Est. From RM199K
Mazda dealers have reportedly begun accepting orders for the CX-60 SUV, with prices tentatively starting at RM199,000.
It appears that Mazda dealers in Malaysia have begun accepting orders for the new Mazda CX-60 SUV ahead of its planned debut later this year. This was announced on several Mazda dealers’ Facebook pages, where the upcoming midsize SUV is slated to be priced from RM199,000 onwards.
Initially unveiled at last year’s Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS 2024), the upcoming CX-60 will be the first Mazda Large Product Group model to make its Malaysian debut. From the dealers’ posts, we also learned that the CX-60 will be offered solely in the 2.5G 2WD High variant, with five exterior colourways available, namely Soul Red Crystal, Platinum Quartz, Rhodium White, Jet Black, and Zircon Sand.
Under the hood, the Malaysian-bound uses a familiar 2.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp Skyativ-G petrol engine rated at 189 hp and 261 Nm, which is essentially the same engine used on both the CX-5 and CX-8. Unlike both models, however, the CX-60 gets a new 8-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic gearbox, which facilitates power delivery to the rear wheels (RWD).
Should this be true, then it seems that we’ll be missing out on both the 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid and the larger 3.3-litre inline-six variants for the CX-60, with the latter being offered in other ASEAN markets like Indonesia and the Philippines.
As of now, the dealers have yet to give out any details regarding the onboard equipment for our CX-60. But given this will be a fully imported (CBU) unit from Japan, we can expect it to get the same amenities as its Japanese counterpart, including a large 12.3-inch central infotainment display with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a second 12.3-inch display for the metre cluster, a head-up display (HUD), premium leather upholstery, powered and ventilated front seats, a large panoramic sunroof, and many more.
Besides its tentative starting price of RM199,000, the Mazda dealers also confirmed that the CX-60 will come with a standard 5-year or 100,000 km vehicle warranty plus 5 years or 100,000 km of free scheduled maintenance, which is the same package offered to other Mazda models locally.
Unlike both the CX-5 and CX-8, the new CX-60 is part of Mazda’s new Large Product Group premium lineup, which includes the likes of the CX-90, CX-80, and CX-70. Given its size, which sits slightly larger than the CX-5, we can expect the upcoming CX-60 to go against other premium midsize SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the Toyota Harrier, and the Lexus NX, to name a few.
