- Ops Luxury: JPJ Seizes 101 Luxury Vehicles
A total of 101 luxury vehicles have been seized by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) under a special enforcement campaign, “Ops Luxury”.
The operation, conducted nationwide, targets high-end vehicle owners who flout road transport laws, sending a strong message that no one is above the law.
JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly bin Ramli led an inspection of the seized vehicles at the JPJ Kuala Lumpur Impound Depot. The models detained include a range of luxury models such as Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Porsche Cayenne, BMW 530E, Lotus Elise S, Toyota Alphard, Vellfire and an unnamed Mercedes-Benz model.
According to JPJ, these vehicles were found to have committed multiple offences under the Road Transport Act 1987, including expired road tax and insurance, invalid or non-existent driving licences, displaying false registration plates, mismatched chassis numbers and the use of fake trade plates.
Datuk Aedy stressed that the enforcement under Ops Luxury reflects JPJ’s zero-tolerance stance towards road rule violations, regardless of vehicle status or ownership. He reminded all road users that owning an expensive vehicle does not exempt them from legal responsibilities under the road transport act.
The department also urged vehicle owners to be more responsible by ensuring their documents and licences are valid and renewed on time.
Joining Datuk Aedy during the inspection were JPJ Senior Director of Enforcement Muhammad Kifli bin Ma Hassan and JPJ Kuala Lumpur Director Hamidi bin Adam.
