- Bolt Adds Family Profile Feature To Its Mobile App
E-hailing platform Bolt have just made a new 'Family Profile' feature available through its app for users in Malaysia.

Estonia-rooted e-hailing platform Bolt revealed this week that it has brought a new ‘Family Profile’ feature to its mobile app for users in Malaysia. The addition is part of the platform’s wider effort towards enhancing safety, convenience, and usability.
This feature is designed to make ride-hailing more practical for families and support networks, and it targets the growing number of trips ordered on behalf of someone else.
"Family Profile is a simple but powerful way to support others, whether that’s older relatives, or anyone you care about, without needing to coordinate every trip. It’s about control, visibility, and freedom in one feature, and we’re excited to bring it to our customers in Malaysia,” says Afzan Lutfi, GM of Bolt Malaysia via press release.

Essentially, the newly added ‘Family Profile’ function is a shared account function that allows ride management and payments for up to nice people under one single account.
According to Bolt, it says between 2% and 6% of all rides are currently booked for other individuals – a process that often requires manually sharing trip details and coordinating externally via messaging apps.
Through Family Profile, existing users can invite others to join their profile and set monthly spending limits for them. Additionally, users can elect to also receive live trip updates, including notifications when rides begin or end.
Take note, the new Family Profile feature from Bolt cannot be used to book rides for un-accompanied minors.

The requirements to enable the Family Profile are simple and straightforward. Firstly, invited members must first register for their own Bolt accounts, which in turn means each of them must be at the minimum age of 18 years old.
Take note that the Family Profile feature cannot be used to book rides for un-accompanied minors. This age restriction, according to Bolt, is a deliberate safeguard tied to both legal requirements and safety considerations.
Despite the latter, this new Family Profile function is set to benefit parents, caregivers and the likes of anyone who frequently arranges transport for others, including older adults who either aren’t regularly using smartphones or ride-hailing apps.
