- Launched: 2025 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport – From RM469,800
BMW Group Malaysia updated and expanded its local line-up earlier today with the refreshed iX EV SUV and locally built (CKD) X5 premium SUV.

Apart from the refreshed BMW iX duo, BMW Group Malaysia also expanded the face-lifted fourth-generation (chassis code: G05) BMW X5 range. Joining alongside the existing xDrive50e M Sport plug-in hybrid (PHEV) guise now is a new xDrive40i M Sport variant.
As you can probably deduce from the new variant’s designation, this is a more ‘traditional’ mild-hybrid (MHEV) flavour of the BMW marque’s signature premium SUV offering. We’ll add that this new variant is also locally assembled (CKD) at Inokom in Kulim, Kedah.
The G05-gen X5 range has been expanded locally, and it now includes this new X5 xDrive40i M Sport guise.

Straight to the mechanical bits first, the new X5 xDrive40i M Sport notably shares and identical turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line 6-cyl mill as its PHEV sibling. It’s only electrified element here is a 48-volt MHEV starter-generator.
Identical too are the 8-speed automatic box and xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. Altogether, headlining output figures remain respectable at 381 HP and 540 NM, as are both 0-100 KM/H sprints and claimed V-max – 5.4 secs and 250 KM/H, respectively.
Under the hood, the X5 xDrive40i M Sport employs a mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrain, which shares the same 3.0-litre in-like 6-cyl turbo petrol base engine as its PHEV twin.

As for its chassis, the new BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport also rides on an identical adaptive air suspension setup with Dynamic Damper Control suite as what its PHEV twin rides on.
Visually, the new BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport mirrors its PHEV twin closely, and this largely stems from the fact that both share the same revised kidney grille with ‘Iconic Glow’ function flanked by revised headlights with X-shaped DRLs.

Similar to its PHEV twin, the X5 xDrive40i M Sport gets the M Sport aesthetic treatment.

Shared too is the M Sport aesthetic treatment, which brings high-gloss black and satin aluminium accents. This package also brings both staggered 21-inch M light alloy wheels in V-Spoke 915 M Bicolour and blue-painted M Sport brake calipers.
To cap off the exterior, four paintjob options are available for the new X5 xDrive40i M Sport – Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Brooklyn Grey and Skyscraper Grey.

Predictably, the interior of X5 xDrive40i M Sport largely mirrors what's seen in the X5 xDrive50e M Sport PHEV's innards too.
Moving into the cabin and, predictably, things again mirror the xDrive50e PHEV twin here. You’ll still find the same BMW Curved Display module housing both a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel plus 14.9-inch central infotainment touchscreen plus a digital heads-up display (HUD) up front.
Other key bits include the M leather steering wheel, novel Light Bar feature on the passenger side of the dash, panoramic sunroof, roller sunblind for the rear side windows, as well as power-adjustable Sport seats up front featuring memory function.

Present and accounted for here too are a panoramic sunroof plus a powered split-tailgate.

Elsewhere, the X5 xDrive40e’s cabin also rocks a new ‘Sensafin’ artificial leather upholstery offered exclusively in black, black wood in high-gloss metal effect trims, as well as the M Anthracite headliner.
Besides that, the X5 xDrive40i also offers premium amenities like a Harman Kardon surround audio suite, quad-zone automatic climate control, not forgetting premium conveniences like Comfort Access System, as well as the Travel & Comfort system.
Brimmed too are the Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Professional suites, which brings a high-degree of semi-autonomous driving abilities.

Lastly, in terms of safety and driving assistance, BMW once again did not compromise on this front. Leading things here is the Driving Assistant Professional suite that bring high levels of semi-autonomous driving abilities from the get-go.
Complementing which are the Parking Assistant Professional with Reversing assistant, Active Park Distance with Automatic parking and Manoeuvring assistant, as well as both the BMW Digital Key and Digital Key Plus systems both accounted for.
As for price, the new BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport is tagged at RM469,800, or RM508,200 with the optional BSRI package added.

Lastly, in terms of price, the new BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport detailed commands an RRP of RM469,800. Said figure raises to RM508,200 with the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive (BSRI) package opted in.
As usual, the BSRI brings a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty on top of a 5-year or 100,000 KM service package.
