- No SST-Linked Price Hike for Honda Models in 2025
At the official launch of the face-lifted 2025 Honda HR-V earlier today, Honda Malaysia Managing Director and CEO Narushi Yazaki had addressed enquiries by local press regarding the expanded sales and service tax (SST) implementation.
“We are reviewing this situation carefully because while SST does not directly impact car prices, it may have an indirect impact on our operating costs,” Yazaki elaborated when speaking with local press earlier today.
"For now, we can confirm that there will be no price increase for all Honda models in Malaysia this year," continued Yazaki, who was installed as MD and CEO of Honda Malaysia back in April this year. The exec further emphasised that the company remains committed to minimising potential burdens on customers as well.
Besides that, the exec also elected to highlight the successes charted by Honda Malaysia through its HR-V compact crossover SUV nameplate. To date, over 140,000 units of the HR-V have been shifted since 2015, and the model commands a 41% market share of the non-national B-SUV market segment.
The updated 2025MY version of the HR-V introduced today brings plenty of light changes and improvements all around, all promising to keep the HR-V remain as a segment leader. The firm also laid out a targeted monthly sales volume of roughly 1,000 units for the refreshed HR-V mentioned, which sees four variants on offer.
Additionally, the new 2025MY Honda HR-V model’s launch marks the 21st continuous year that Honda Malaysia has a hybrid model on offer locally. MD and CEO Narushi Yazaki described the milestone as “a testament to the brand’s ongoing innovation and commitment to sustainable mobility.”
