A total of 28 freight and express bus companies have cleared 34,371 outstanding traffic summonses worth over RM6.2 million, according to the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

The companies took action within the 14-day grace period after being flagged by JPJ for repeated traffic violations.

JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the department appreciated the prompt response following Transport Minister Anthony Loke’s call for companies to settle their dues.

“Right after the announcement, many companies contacted us. We provided them with updated records and guided them through the process,” he said. kl39-02072024-operasi_4841838_20241225221238.jpg
While most have complied, a few are still in the process of paying. JPJ has given them an additional month before enforcement kicks in.

“If they fail to settle by then, we’ll have to begin blacklisting their vehicles,” Aedy added.

This comes after the Transport Ministry publicly named several companies with excessive unpaid summonses as part of a broader move to tighten enforcement and improve road safety. screenshot-2025-07-16-at-10-10-49.png
A recent JPJ audit found 11 lorry operators with over 1,000 unpaid summonses each, and 17 express bus companies with more than 200. One company alone had a staggering 22,017 summonses.

These offenses fall under the Road Transport Act 1987, the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987, and the Land Public Transport Act 2010.
