- Sultan Ibrahim Test-Drives ETS Train KL-Rawang
King of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim yesterday took the controls of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad’s (KTMB) Electric Train Service (ETS) for a test drive from Kuala Lumpur to Rawang.
His Majesty arrived at the Kuala Lumpur railway station at 9.15am before entering the ETS2 cockpit, where he was briefed by train captains Roslan, Hairul Yani and Syukri Ghazali.
Also present were KTMB’s head of operations control Sadun Abdullah and locomotive inspector Kamal Asmawi.
The one-hour journey was accompanied by Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Comptroller of the Royal Household Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani and KTMB chief technical officer and acting chief executive officer Ir Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin.
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page, Sultan Ibrahim has long been known for his interest in trains.
In 2010, he became the first Sultan in Malaysia to hold a Class 26 high-powered locomotive driving licence, recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records.
That same year, he drove a train during the Kembara Mahkota Johor programme, covering 391.3 kilometres over three days, the post read.
