- BHPetrol Lubricants Receive SIRIM Certification
BHPetrol revealed today it has received the SIRIM genuine product licencing certification for its range of engine lubricants products.

Leading oil and gas firm Boustead Petroleum Marketing, better known as BHPetrol, revealed earlier today that its range of engine lubricant products have received SIRIM genuine product licencing certification.
BHPetrol is now amongst the latest major brands to acquire this certification from SIIRM QAS International which, as reported prior, saw its enforcement start date delayed from April 7, 2025 initially to Oct 7, 2025 instead.
Earlier this year, a new ruling by the government required all engine oil products to obtain and bear a SIRIM label. This was meant to curb fakes and counterfeits.

As a refresher, the Malaysian government via the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) all engine lubricants marketed and sold in Malaysia to obtain and bear a SIRIM label.
This ruling, gazetted as the Trade Descriptions Order (Certification and Marking of Engine Oil for Motor Vehicles) 2024 back in Oct 2024, requires all engine oil products to undergo an authentication process under SIRIM.
The aim behind this was to curb both fake and counterfeit products from entering the market – a rather prevalent and persistent issue with engine lubricants products which can lead to detrimental and sometimes catastrophic engine damage.
This now means that BHP -branded lubricants like SynGard, Trans and Dash will also bear the SIRIM QR code stickers indicating its compliance with said new ruling.

The certification BHPetrol received today means its lubricant products range manufactured and packed from this date will receive light-green SIRIM QR code stickers, thus indicating the products’ compliance with SIRIM standards.
For existing inventory, a light-pink SIRIM QR code sticker will be distributed instead directly to BHPetrol business partners. The latter party are tasked to affix these on lubricant stock already in storage, notes BHPetrol.
Both stickers will be rolled-out by BHPetrol in phases. The firm also committed to providing its partners and customers, as well as KPDN, assurances of full transparency and compliance with this coveted genuine product labelling requirement.
Presently, BHPetrol markets a range of engine lubricant products under several sub-brands – SynGard for passenger cars, Trans for commercial vehicles, as well as Dash for motorcycles.
