- Chery Malaysia Opens ROI For Omoda O5, Launches This Month
The Omoda 5 was the very first model that marked Chery’s re-entry into Malaysia back in July 2023. Since then, it has become a strong volume seller for the brand, helping establish Chery’s network and reputation locally.
Now, the SUV is ready for a refresh in the form of the newly renamed Omoda O5, which Chery Malaysia has begun teasing ahead of its launch this month.
Under the hood, the O5 retains the familiar 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, but swaps the CVT gearbox for a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, promising a livelier drive.
Aesthetically, the O5 will sport a fresh new face. It combines sleeker, E5 EV-style arrow-shaped LED DRLs with a bold OMODA script linking both ends at the front. Below, the bumper is re-profiled with an aggressive X-shaped design. Completing the look are new 18-inch alloy wheels.
On board, the cabin gets an upgrade with ventilated faux leather seats, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, and a huge 20.5-inch integrated dual screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety continues to be a strong point, with six airbags, ADAS Level 2 driver assistance, and a 540° camera system providing added confidence on the road.
For those eager to get behind the wheel, Chery Malaysia is now inviting registrations for early test drives of the Omoda O5. (LINK)
The outgoing Omoda 5 is currently offered in two trims, C (RM99,400) and H (RM108,400), both certified with ASEAN NCAP’s 5-star safety rating to boot too.
The real question now is how Chery Malaysia will price its successor. Can the Omoda O5 retain its role as the brand’s volume seller, or will that mantle pass to the recently launched Tiggo Cross?
