- GAC Emkoo Awarded 5-star ASEAN NCAP Rating
The upcoming new GAC Emkoo from WTC Automotif (WTCA) has earned a 5-star ASEAN NCAP crash-test rating.

Set to officially launch very soon, the upcoming new GAC Emkoo has earned itself a coveted 5-star rating from the ASEAN NCAP crash-testing organisation. In turn, this ought to fuel added buyer confidence for this localised (CKD) C-SUV offering.
The 5-star rating stems from the high overall score of 84.96 points achieved by this Sino-badged C-SUV offering under the organisation’s 2021-2025 protocol. One of its best scores was 30.30 out of 32 possible points in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) front.
Set for launch very soon, the GAC Emkoo is also locally built (CKD) at TCMA Segambut. Bookings are now opened with two variants available.

Following which was the 44.17 points of 51 possible points in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) side. This certainly should boost the GAC Emkoo’s proposition as a family-friendly choice, more so given it comes with six airbags and ABS plus ESC as standard.
Another highly scored assessment achieved by the GAC Emkoo stems from the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) side of things. In fact, said SUV offering scored 19.50 out of 21 possible points for which under the ASEAN NCAP’s Safety Assistance (SA) assessment.




We sized up the GAC Emkoo in range-topping form recently ahead of its launch. In terms of styling, it's certainly striking to say the least.





From which, we’re certain ASEAN NCAP had tested the range-topping variant, which comes primed with autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision warning (FCW), lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist (LDW + LKAS), and more.
Though first previewed back in Feb 2024, brand representatives WTC Automotif Sdn Bhd (WTCA) only began local assembly for this C-SUV offering at TCMA Segambut in June this year. The firm then publicly previewed it again in July, opening it for bookings recently too at an estimated RM120,000 starting price.


The range-topper we sampled came brimmed with a barrage of ADAS features as standard - things that scored highly under the ASEAN NCAP's Safety Assistance (SA) assessment.



WTCA had initially set plans to launch the GAC Emkoo officially by the third quarter (Q3 ) of this year. The firm also recently held a brief press preview drive for this offering, which you can read about by clicking these blue words.
At launch, WTCA is set to offer the GAC Emkoo across two variants. Both share the same 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol heart and 7-speed DCT automatic powertrain package, with the former rated at 177 PS and 270 Nm to make it one of the peppiest in segment too.
