- Leapmotor B05 Ultra Sporty EV Hatch Previewed In China
Pictured is the Leapmotor Lafa 5 Ultra - B05 Ultra for Europe - that was just previewed in China recently.

Chinese upstart electric vehicle (EV) maker Leapmotor is poised to take on the European market well. Not only does it have arguably the right partner for which in the form of Stellantis, it also perhaps has the right products to do this with.
Despite the advent rise of crossover SUVs, hatchbacks continue to be a popular genre across the ‘Old Continent’. This also continues to be true even as the world’s third largest market for cars reaches its transitional ‘crossroads’ towards electrification.
Aptly, this is a sportier and sharper variant of the Europe-bound Leapmotor B05 EV hatch that was shown during the recent IAA Mobility 2025 show.

With that, it’s easy to see then the critical importance of the upcoming Leapmotor B05 EV hatch model. Also known as the Lafa 5 in China, Leapmotor reportedly previewed a sharper and sportier variant for which in its home market mentioned.
Christened as the Leapmotor B05 Ultra (Lafa 5 Ultra), this sportier-styled variant has undergone extensive development to woo a younger and performance-driven buying crowd, claims the Leapmotor brand’s Senior Vice President Cao Li.

Unlike the standard B05 (Lafa 5) variant, this Ultra grade is easily distinguished by its extensive aerokit featuring a larger front splitter and massive rear spoiler. It also rocks gloss black exterior accents.

Through a special press presentation held online, the exec reportedly added the Lafa 5 Ultra goes on sale slightly later from 2026 onwards, unlike the ‘standard’ Lafa 5 (B05) model that’s slated to see deliveries in China start by end of this year instead. However, full technical specifications continue to go undisclosed still.
Nevertheless, this sportier B05 Ultra (Lafa 5 Ultra) variant will be easily distinguished thanks to its dedicated aero package featuring a reshaped front splitter, large rear spoiler and gloss-black exterior accents. What’s shared with the regular variant are the 19-inch rolling stock.

Images of the cabin and interior also remains undisclosed still. Despite so, sources online expect it to mirror what’s seen in the B10 EV SUV and B01 EV sedan – all three share the same LEAP 3.5 modular platform underneath.
Speaking of, the Lafa 5 Ultra (B05 Ultra) is also set to promise enhanced drive dynamics thanks to special chassis tuning done by partners Stellantis .At launch, this EV hastch wil rival against the likes of the BYD Dolphin, new MG4, and perhaps the Geely Geome Xingyuan too. Expect more details then.
