New Omoda C5 Previewed in China – Updated Design, Revamped Interior
The recently updated Omoda C5 has just gained a new version, featuring a more striking design and a revamped interior.
Just a few months after the facelifted version made its debut in China, it seems like there’s a new version of the Omoda C5 being shown here at the ongoing Omoda & Jaecoo International User Summit 2025. For its latest iteration, this popular sporty SUV crossover gains a whole design makeover with a revamped interior.
We’ll start with the exterior design, where the new C5 looks more futuristic compared to the ongoing model. Up front, the SUV gets a sharper front fascia featuring new dual-stack LED headlights and slimmer air intakes with no bold front grille like the ongoing model.
Moving to the side, the new C5 still retains the same sporty side profile as the ongoing model with a coupe-like roofline, the same conventional door handles, and new 18-inch alloy wheels featuring a more enclosed spoke design.
Things are quite different at the rear, where the new C5 gets a cleaner tailgate design, with the license plate holder now located on the lower part of the rear bumper, plus new LED taillights with the same zig-zag lighting signatures seen on both the Omoda 4 and Omoda C7. Also new here is the roof-mounted spoiler, while the faux tailpipes have been replaced with a simpler rear bumper garnish.
The changes continue as we get inside, where the new model gets a revamped interior with a more minimalistic design to match the current Omoda models. For starters, the dual-screen setup seen on the local-spec Chery O5 has been replaced with a larger central infotainment screen and a smaller digital metre cluster.
Also new here are the cleaner central console with some control buttons and a wireless charging pad, as well as a new two-spoke steering wheel with a column-mounted gear shifter on the right side.
Rounding off the interior changes are the new two-tone interior upholstery with contrasting orange accents and stitches, sporty front seats, dedicated A/C vents, heated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, a Sony audio system, and many more.
Putting aside the visual changes, we’ve been told that the new C5 still uses the same 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbocharged petrol engine as before, which is now mated to a six-speed DCT automatic gearbox, just like the facelifted model in our market. That said, no powertrain figures were given for now, and it appears that the new C5 will also be available with an all-wheel drive (AWD) option.
Before you get excited about the new Omoda C5, there is no confirmation yet on when this sporty SUV crossover will make its overseas debut. But given that the facelifted model was just launched earlier this year, it might take a while before we see the new C5 heading its way to overseas markets.
So folks, what do you think of the new Omoda C5? Could this sporty and futuristic SUV crossover be sold into our market soon under the Chery brand, or would it be sold under the Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia banner instead?
