- ETS3 To Johor Bahru Set To Roll Out by Mid-December
The Electric Train Service (ETS) will finally make its way to Johor Bahru by mid-Dec, connecting the southern city to Malaysia’s west coast rail network for the first time.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the new ETS3 line is in its final phase of preparation and will begin operations once technical checks are completed.
“We are still looking for a suitable launch date because some final preparations need to be completed, but the ETS service to Johor Bahru will start no later than mid-December,” he confirmed.

The long-awaited route will extend the current ETS line, which ends in Gemas, further south through Segamat, Kluang, and Kulai, before reaching Johor Bahru Sentral.
"This marks the completion of the west coast rail corridor, linking cities from Padang Besar all the way down to Johor," Loke noted.
The minister further stated the extension would not only ease travel for Johoreans but also boost tourism under the Visit Johor 2026 campaign.

“This is an additional mode of transport in Johor, and I am confident it can also help the tourism sector in Johor, especially in secondary and small towns like Segamat, Labis, Kluang, and Kulai,” he added.
Ticket prices will be announced soon, once final testing is done.
