Untitled-design---2025-11-25T125916.149.png A family trip to Felda Pemanis in Segamat ended in tragedy on the morning of Nov 24 when 63-year-old Juhari Murid was killed after a metal longshaft from a passing tipper truck struck him.

The victim was traveling in an MPV with his wife Zaina Khalid, 58, and siblings from Senggarang, Batu Pahat.

According to NST, the iron piece, estimated to weigh 100 kilograms, detached from the tipper truck, pierced the vehicle’s windshield, and struck Juhari in the face.

Everyone else in the car survived.

Juhari’s son, Noor Shahin, 31, recounted receiving a call from a cousin about the incident. “I rushed from Muar to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) Batu Pahat after being informed of the incident,” he said at the hospital’s Forensic Unit.

Another day, another heavy vehicle accident. In this case, negligence appears to be a key factor, as operators or drivers may have failed to secure or inspect their cargo before the journey, with fatal consequences.
