Two 13-year-old boys died when they collided while performing stunts on their motorcycles. The accident happened at 11.20 p.m. on Wednesday (August 14) in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
According to police investigations, the teens collided head on while performing wheelies, a stunt in which riders balance their motorcycle on its rear wheel, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The two boys, who lived in a nearby village and were said to be friends, died on the scene, according to district police chief superintendent Hafiz Muhammad Nor.
According to Hafiz, the number of fatal accidents in Sungai Buloh has increased dramatically since January as a result of illegal racing and excessive speeding. Eleven people have died in seven motorcycle accidents there, compared to three fatalities from three accidents in 2023, he said. Hafiz advised parents to be vigilant and supervise their children, particularly at night, to prevent them from engaging in illegal racing activities. According to the New Straits Times, parents and guardians of underage children who are caught driving without a licence can face charges under the Child Act 2001 for abuse, neglect, and abandonment, as well as exposing children to danger. The police chief also urged the public to report illegal racing activities and help the police crack down on such bad behavior that jeopardizes social security.
