- Chery Malaysia Honours Medal-Winning AYPG 2025 Para-Athletes
Malaysian para-athletes had a very warm homecoming hosted by Chery Malaysia after their record-setting campaign at the recent Asian Youth Para Games 2025 (AYPG 2025).

Leading automaker Chery Malaysia recently held a special recognition ceremony that doubled up at the finale of its month-long campaign supporting the Malaysian para-athlete contingent competing in the recent Asian Youth Para Games 2025 (AYPG 2025).
The ceremony, held earlier this week at the National Sports Council (NSC), was graced by newly appointed Youth and Sports Minister YB Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari.
AYPG 2025 saw Malaysian para athletes chart 14 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze medals across eight events.

This year, Malaysian AYPG 2025 competitors charted their best performance to date too by securing 14 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze medals across eight sport categories – archery, athletics, badminton, boccia, powerlifting, swimming, table tennis, as well as Taekowndo.
Notably standout athletes include multi-medal winners like swimmers Elysha Cheong Hui-Yin, Wahyu Eqwal Nazrey and Sharline Valerie Voo Wen Qin, as well as shuttlers duo Cheah You Zhou and Ahmad Shahputra Abdul Rahim.

The automaker's support included RM1,000 extended to all participating para athletes.

“At Chery, we believe that sports help build strong character. Through discipline and hard work, sports can shape your future and open doors to countless opportunities — and all of you have proven this through your achievements.” said Men Lin Bo, Executive Vice President of Chery Malaysia, during the ceremony.
The exec adds that Chery Malaysia will continue supporting the Malaysian community, particularly in sports and youth development, to help young athletes grow, improve, and achieve.
Chery Malaysia also presented a large contribution worth RM208,000 to the NSC. The mock cheque was presented to newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports YB Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari.

During the ceremony mentioned, the exec also presented Chery Malaysia’s RM208,000 contribution to the NSC too. Said contribution supports Malaysia’s AYPG medalists and extends RM1,000 to all participating para athletes too.
Besides that, the automaker’s support began earlier this month when it provided mobility support with a full convoy of its latest SUV offerings to transport all 29 athletes and their coaches to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
This gesture, according to the firm, symbolises its belief in the potential of Malaysian youth and its pride in accompanying Team Malaysia on such an important journey. Lastly, the automaker again reiterated its commitment to supporting Malaysia’s youth and bolstering the nation’s sporting future.
