- Govt Announces 50% Christmas Toll Discount On Dec 23-24
Motorists can look forward to cheaper highway travel this Christmas, with the government announcing a 50% toll discount for private vehicles nationwide on Dec 23 and 24.
The Works Ministry said the discount is meant to ease the cost of travelling during the festive period, especially for those heading back to their hometowns or visiting family and friends.
"The toll cut applies only to Class 1 vehicles, which include privately owned passenger cars. Commercial vehicles such as lorries, buses and other non-private vehicle classes are excluded from the discount," it said in a statement.
Motorists have also been advised to plan their journeys ahead of time, be patient during peak hours and follow traffic rules to ensure a safer drive.
Highway concessionaires, meanwhile, are expected to step up traffic management and provide sufficient support services throughout the two-day period.

"The Christmas toll discount continues the government’s practice of offering toll relief during major festive seasons, as part of wider efforts to support road users and make holiday travel more convenient," the ministry added.
