- BYD Seal 08 & Sealion 08 Teased as Brand’s New Flagship Duo

BYD has released official teaser images of its new flagship models from the Ocean series, the Seal 08 and Sealion 08.
BYD has released official teaser images for its new flagship duo, the new Seal 08 sedan and Sealion 08 SUV. These two upcoming models will become the brand’s flagship model under its Ocean series lineup, set to make their Chinese debut sometime later in Q1 2026.
As reported by CarNewsChina, this teaser also formally establishes the Ocean 8 series as the highest-positioned lineup within BYD’s Ocean product family, and their arrival is in time with several more flagship models across the brand’s other product series.

In terms of design, the upcoming Seal 08 is being positioned as a mid-to-large sedan with a sleek coupe-style roof, whereas the Sealion 08 gets a more typical mid-to-large SUV bodystyle with a more upright and angular profile. Given that both cars are tightly wrapped in camouflage, there are not many exterior details we can see from these published images.
The same goes for both its interior and powertrain specs, where BYD has kept quiet on both fronts, at least for now. From what we gather, the Ocean 8 series will operate as a separate flagship lineup from BYD’s Dynasty series, which will get its own next-gen flagship models in the form of the Tang 9 SUV and Han 9 sedan.

BYD’s main Ocean lineup traditionally focuses on marine-themed namings for its models while featuring a distinct design language to separate itself from the Dynasty series. Some notable models under the Ocean lineup include the Seal sedan and Sealion SUV crossover, to name a few.

Meanwhile, the Dynasty series leverages on historically-inspired names such as the Han and Tang and also features its own distinctive design ethos in a bid to not confuse customers with BYD’s other series.
As of writing, BYD has yet to disclose whether the upcoming Seal 08 and Sealion 08 will feature the same technological underpinnings as the new Tang 9 and Han 9, with no regulatory filings or official technical details published. That being said, we can expect the new Ocean 8 series flagship duo to make their respective debut soon, possibly sometime in the first quarter of this year.
