Launched: 2026 BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport – LWB, 433 KM Range, Est. RM255,000
Officially introduced locally today was the 2026 BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport - the long-wheelbase (LWB) redux of the iX1 EV crossover.

Besides the localised i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro, BMW Group Malaysia also elected to expand its local electric vehicles (EVs) range with a new variant of the iX1 EV crossover. New for Malaysia is the 2026 BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport.
Before you ask, the ‘L’ in ‘eDrive20L’ denotes this as the long-wheelbase (LWB) variant of the iX1 (chassis code: U12). You may remember this variant of the EV crossover based on the third-generation X1 crossover first bowing in China back in 2023.
In LWB form, this iX1 sits 116 MM longer with a 110 MM wheelbase stretch. This variant also benefits with a new comfort-focused suspension dialled in for greater on-road use.

Effectively, this LWB redux of the iX1 sits 116 MM longer with a 110 MM wheelbase stretch, thus granting even greater legroom for rear passengers – the automaker touts up to 81 MM and 107 MM of additional legroom and kneeroom respectively, to be exact. In all, this this LWB redux now sits 4,616 MM long, 1,845 MM wide and 1,617 MM tall.
Bolstering the increased space are the rear seats itself, which now feature softer foam and a15 MM extension to its cushion base for enhanced passenger comforts. Next comes new comfort-focused suspension system dialled in specifically for greater on-road ease sweetens ride comforts further too.
Besides the enhanced leg- and kneeroom, the rear seats have also been made softer with a larger cushion base for enhanced comfort.

Maximum boot space has also increased to 1,600 litres with the rear seats folded, though the standard boot space of 490 litres remains unchanged.

Another bonus is to the wheelbase stretch is the increased boot space, especially with the softer and enlarged rears seats folded – up to 1,600 litres is available instead of 1,495 litres in the short/standard-wheelbase (SWB, chassis code: U11) version. Standard boot capacity of 490 litres remains, as does powered tailgate function.
In other words, if you thought the regular iX1 was a tad cramped at the rear, then this LWB offshoot should render said concern redundant.
The only drawback to this stretched wheelbase form of the iX1 is its slightly lower range - between 402 KM to 433 KM (WLTP).

Mechanically, the iX1 eDrive20L remain identical with its SWB twin mentioned. It continues to harness a 66.5 kWh battery pack juicing a front-mounted e-motor driving the front wheels with 150 KW (204 hp) and 250 Nm outputs.
0-100 km/h sprints remain identical at 8.6 secs too, as is the electronically capped V-max of 175 km/h. The only drawback to this stretching effort is the slightly lower range stemming from its slightly heavier 2,024 KG kerb heft – between 402 to 433 KM (WLTP). For reference, the iX1 eDrive20 SWB covers between 430 to 475 KM (WLTP).

M Sport exterior trim - and rolling stock - are matched with M Light Shadowline, M Roof rails in high-gloss Shadowline finish plus exterior mirror package.

As for charging, this is also relatively unchanged from the SWB version. Both standard 11 KW AC and up to 130 kW DC fast-charging inputs are accepted, the latter bring 10-80% recharges done in just 32 minutes – that’s roughly 120 KM of range with every 10 minutes of charging.
Aesthetically, the M Sport treatment brings sportier touches plus 19-inch dual-tone rolling stock. Complementing this are the M Lights Shadowline, M Roof rails in high-gloss Shadowline, as well as the exterior mirror package.

Perforared Veganza (faux leather) upholstery in the iX1 eDrive20L comes in Castanea (red) hue, and is offset by Aluminium Hexacube Pale M trims. Primed too is the M Leather steering wheel.

On board, this EV crossover rocks the M Leather steering wheel and Aluminium Hexacube Pale M interior trims to offset the perforated Veganza (faux leather) upholstery in Castanea (red).
In terms of tech, the new iX1 eDrive20L variant continues to offer the latest and greatest from the Bavarian marque – digital displays, Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving abilities, data-driven connectivity functions, head-up display (HUD), 205-watt Harman Kardon audio suite, as well as Panoramic Skyroof, amongst many, all accounted for.
This LWB redux of the iX1 is currently tagged at an estimated RM255,000.

Available in four exterior paint choices, the fully imported (CBU) 2026 BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport commands an estimated base price tag of RM255,000 (excluding BMW Service & Repair Inclusive (BSRI) package).
The latter brings a 6-year, unlimited mileage base vehicle warranty, followed by a separate 8-year EV battery warranty coverage to boot.
