In a clear message that road safety laws take no sides, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has begun issuing summonses to individuals caught riding without helmets, including those involved in recent election campaign convoys.

Viral footage showing a motorcycle convoy during the current Johor state election campaign has sparked widespread public debate. The clips, which circulated rapidly on social media, depicted several participants riding without safety helmets, a clear breach of traffic regulations.

The Stance: Safety Before Politics

Transport Minister Anthony Loke addressed the issue in an official statement today (July 10), confirming that he has ordered the JPJ to take immediate action against any individual identified in the footage.

"There is nothing wrong with riding motorcycles during campaigning, but every rider must wear a helmet and set a good example to the public," Loke said. He emphasized that the enforcement is not selective and will be applied regardless of political affiliation.

The directive ensures that the law remains consistent: whether you are an everyday commuter or a participant in a high-profile political convoy, safety regulations are non-negotiable.
