XPENG G6

Highly sought-after, XPENG’s latest 2026 release, the new XPENG G6, upgraded and launched in Malaysia.

A D-segment (mid-size crossover SUV) Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), it underpins XPENG’s Smart Electric Platform Architecture (SEPA 2.0).

Fully imported (CBU – China), available via Bermaz XPeng Sdn Bhd (Bermaz Auto Berhad – BAuto) are four variants (RWD Standard Range – RM159,948, RWD Long Range – RM180,013, AWD Performance – RM191,523, AWD Black Edition – RM195,523).

Prices (OTR, w/o insurance) include a vehicle warranty (five years/120,000 km), an EV battery-motor warranty (eight years/160,000 km) and a maintenance package (free: five years/100,000 km).

The new G6 gets a symmetrically angular rounded and tiered dashboard (‘Super Star-Ring’ Interior Design), linked to a high-rise-floating centre console (armrest, storage, dual wireless charger, gear lever-omitted).

Soft-/hard-touched (dash, steering wheel, centre console, doors), it sees two (dual-tone – Dark Grey-Black, Light Grey-Black) colour schemes with contrast trims (bezels: Aluminium) and panels (centre-dash: Wood veneer).

Equipped are the driver/central displays (floating: instrument cluster, infotainment), air-conditioning system (vents: rectangular slim – controls: infotainment), an ambient light system (256-colour, rhythmic) and digital rear-view mirror (RWD Long Range, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition: live feed camera – 9.0-inch).

Inclusively, the layout is ergonomic (functional), with accessibilities purposefully arranged (driver-oriented, user-friendly).

Part of XPENG’s ‘Smart Cockpit’, installed is a 10.25-inch HD TFT-LCD (Thin-Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) fully digital driver display (instrument cluster).

The setup runs XPENG’s smart in-car operating system (XMART OS 5.0 – Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chip).

Courtesy of its Cell-Integrated-Body (CIB) build (XPENG’s Smart Electric Platform Architecture – SEPA 2.0), featured is a body-integrated battery pack, optimising the cabin design with added vertical space.

Mounted is a two-spoke-flat-bottom steering wheel. Leather-suede (dual-tone – interior colour dependent) with contrast trims (Aluminium).

Features are multi-function (capacitive touch: Bluetooth, Media, Voice Recognition, Vehicle settings), column adjustments (manual: tilt, telescopic), heating and column gear selector (right stalk shifter).

Drive is aided by an Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system.

Sleek and athletic, its ‘Starship’ inspired exterior parades XPENG’s techno-fluid aesthetic, emphasised by seamlessly flowing and clean-cut surfaces.

The ‘Robot Face’ front-end sees a moulded bonnet (raised sides, XPENG emblem), rounded quarter panels (flared fenders, wheel arch extensions) and an inward-warped bumper (‘Starlight Wing’ full width lightbar, grille-omitted, lower vented, corner inserts).

Smooth and athletic, it continues the design language, emphasised by seamlessly jointed and horizontally clean-cut contours.

The rear-end sees a coupe-esque roofline (roof-edge spoiler), rounded quarter panels (flared fenders, wheel arch extensions), an upright tapered tailgate (ducktail spoiler, XPENG script, G6 emblem) and a covered bumper (diffuser: exhaust-omitted).

Accentuations, body clad (Black: bumper – Silver: diffuser), body trims (Black: bumper, window surrounds, side sills, B-pillars – body-colour: roof-edge spoiler, wheel arch extensions), XPENG script, G6 emblem (Matte Grey: RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance – Matte Black: AWD Black Edition) and flush door handles (body-colour: electric).

Dual-housed (upper – DRL, lower – main), the headlamps are framed full-width slim (upper – lightbar) and angularly rounded (lower). Installed are full LED (projectors) units.

Features are ‘Starlight Wing’ lightbar Daytime Running Lights (DRL – LED), automatic-sensing (On/Off, high-/low-beam, cornering), Intelligent High Beam (IHB), welcome/leaving lights, height adjustment (manual) and sequential turn signals (LED).

Sleek and darkened, the ‘Galaxy Lightsaber’ tail lamps are housed slim and slit-like with pointed wraparound edges. Installed are full LED units.

Features are automatic-sensing (On/Off), welcome/leaving lights and sequential turn signals (LED). Included is a high-mounted stop light (LED: roof-edge spoiler integrated).

The side mirrors (dual-toned – Black-body-colour) are electronic-powered (auto-fold, adjust) with blind spot indicators (Blind Spot Detection – BSD), sequential turn signals (LED), heating and memory.

Installed are ventilated (front, rear) disc brakes. Incorporated are coloured (Black) callipers (AWD Black Edition).

Aiding the setup are Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold and Brake Energy Recuperation (regenerative braking – four levels: LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH, X PEDAL) systems.

Sportily designed, fitted are sets of 18-inch (RWD Standard Range: Black-low-drag-wheel-hub) and 20-inch (RWD Long Range, AWD Performance: Black-Silver-double-star-spoke – AWD Black Edition: Smoked-Black-double-star-spoke) alloy rims.

Entertainment is channelled via the XPENG XOPERA 2.0 surround sound system (16 speakers).

The new G6 (RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition) underpins an all-electric e-powertrain (BEV) with variant-specific setups.

First e-powertrain (RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range) is a single-electric motor (rear-mounted: Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM) setup (RWD Standard Range: 185 kW/252 PS, 440 Nm – RWD Long Range: 218 kW/296 PS, 440 Nm).

Second e-powertrain (AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition) is a dual-electric motor (front-rear-mounted: Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM) setup (front: 140 kW/190 PS, 220 Nm – rear: 218 kW/296 PS, 440 Nm – front-rear: 358 kW/487 PS, 660 Nm).

Merged to the setups is a single-speed automatic transmission (column gear selector: right stalk shifter).

Power is routed to the rear (RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range) and all four (AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition) wheels, via Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) systems.

0 to 100 km/h acceleration is done in 6.94 secs (RWD Standard Range), 6.7 secs (RWD Long Range) and 4.13 secs (AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition). 

Top speed is electronically capped at 202 km/h (RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition).

Underpinned is XPENG’s Smart Electric Platform Architecture (SEPA 2.0), featuring a Cell-Integrated-Body (CIB) build (body-integrated battery pack) with a high-voltage Silicon Carbide (SiC) platform (800 V).

Incorporated is a Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery (RWD Standard Range: 68.5 kWh – RWD Long Range, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition: 80.8 kWh), enabling a total driving range (WLTP) of 480 km (RWD Standard Range), 525 km (RWD Long Range) and 510 km (AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition).

AC charging (Type 2 – RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition: 11 kW) takes 7.3 hours (RWD Standard Range) and 9.2 hours (RWD Long Range, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition) for a 5% to 100% State of Charge (SoC). 

DC charging (CCS2 – RWD Standard Range: 382 kW/RWD Long Range, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition: 451 kW) takes 12 mins (RWD Standard Range, RWD Long Range, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition) for a 10% to 80% SoC.

Included is a Brake Energy Recuperation (regenerative braking – four levels: LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH, X PEDAL) system and a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L – 3.3 kW) function for powering of external appliances.

Propping-up the e-chassis is a suspension setup of double wishbones independent suspension (front) and a multi-link independent suspension (rear) with passive dampers.

Overall, it is spacious with firm handling and is suitable as a daily driver. Inside and out, performance- and comfort-wise, the ride quality is satisfactory.

Good sound insulation, covering all the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects. The cabin is serene, with the tyre, road and wind noises mostly hindered. 

Part of the aero-acoustic measures taken is the installation of acoustic glasses (front: side windows, windscreen).

The new XPENG G6 is built with a futuristic and sophisticatedly sporty appeal, offering style, performance, space and practicality.
