Leapmotor C10

A first Southeast Asian region model from the Stellantis-backed Chinese automaker, Leapmotor, officially launched in Malaysia, the all-new Leapmotor C10.

A D-segment SUV contender, it is a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), underpinning the Leap 3.0 Architecture (LPEE 3.0 - Leap 3.0 Four-Leaf-Clover - Cell-To-Chassis 2.0).

Fully-imported (CBU - China), available via Stellantis Malaysia (official distributor) is one variant (C10 - MYR 159,000).

Price (OTR, w/o insurance) covers vehicle (six years/150,000 KM), battery (eight years/160,000 KM) warranties. Service intervals (fixed - one year/20,000 KM).

Four (single-tone) exterior colours (Glazed Green, Pearly White, Canopy Grey, Tundra Grey). Two (dual-tone) interior colours (Criollo Brown-Black - Glazed Green exclusive, Midnight Aurora-Black).

The all-new C10 has a cleanly-tiered dashboard, linked to a high-rising centre console (NFC keycard holder, gear lever-deleted, wireless charger).

Soft-/hard-touched (leather - dash, door trims), it sees two dual-tone colour schemes (Criollo Brown-Black, Midnight Aurora-Black).

Centre-staged is the floating centre display (infotainment), flanked by the floating driver display (instrument cluster).

Filling-in the layout are dash-concealed air-conditioning vents, contrast trims (Silver - steering wheel, centre console, door armrests), and ambient lights (rhythmic).

Inclusively, the design is clean and seamless with accessibilities purposefully-arranged (driver-centric, passenger-oriented).

Installed is a 10.25-Inch floating driver display (instrument cluster), powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chip (Leap Operating System 4.0 - Leap OS 4.0).

Tipping the scale at 1,980 KG, the all-new C10 stands at 4,739 MM long, 1,900 MM wide, 1,680 MM tall, and with a wheelbase spanning 2,825 MM.

Steadily-smooth and sportily-sleek, its low-sitting exterior exudes a seamless aesthetic with clean-cut and roundly-refined contours.

The front-end sees a side-sculpted bonnet (Leapmotor emblem - Chrome), rounded quarter panels, and a bottom-grilled bumper (Active Grille Shutter - AGS).

Accentuations are body cladding (bumper, side sills - Black), body trimmings (grille/window surrounds, side mirrors - Black), and roof rails (Black).

Neatly-shaped and horizontally-lined, it continues the seamless aesthetic with an uprightly-curvy and widened silhouette.

The rear-end sees a straight-cut roofline/tailgate (shark fin antenna - Black/Leapmotor script - Chrome), a roof-edge spoiler, rounded quarter panels, and a covered bumper.

Accentuations are body cladding (bumper, side sills - Black), body trimmings (bottom-section spoiler, window surrounds - Black), and roof rails (Black).

Sharply-elongated, the headlamps are framed roundly-slim and full-width (centre light strip). Installed are full LED units.

Features are automatic On/Off/high-/low-beam/height-adjustment, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), follow-me-home lights, and turn signals. Included is set of fog lamps (LED).

Slit-like and slim, the tail lamps are framed full-width (centre light strip) with pointed-wraparound edges. Installed are full LED units. 

Features are automatic On/Off, follow-me-home function, animated sequence (LED), and turn signals. Included is a high-mounted brake light (spoiler-integrated), and a set of fog lamps (LED).

Features are driving displays, satellite navigation, Wi-Fi/4G network, Bluetooth, dual-zone voice command, Leapmotor mobile app (mobile key, remote access), and Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates.

Entertainment is channelled via an in-house-developed surround sound system (840 W, 12 speakers). Included is an ‘AI (Artificial Intelligence) sound effect’.

Embedded in the all-new C10 is an all-electric powertrain (BEV).

Nestled is a single-electric-motor (rear-axle-mounted) setup (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor - PMSM), generating 160 KW (215 HP) and 320 NM.

Mated to the setups is a single-speed automatic transmission.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels, via a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) system.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 KM/H is done in 7.5 seconds, and the top speed maxes out at 170 KM/H.

Underpinned is the Leap 3.0 Architecture (LPEE 3.0 - Leap 3.0 Four-Leaf-Clover - Cell-To-Chassis 2.0 - body-integrated battery pack).

Featured is a Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack (69.9 KWH), enabling a total driving range of 424 KM (WLTP).

AC charging (Type 2, 6.6 KW) takes 6.1 hours for a 0% to 100% State-of-Charge (SoC). DC charging (CCS2, 84 KW) takes 30 minutes for a 30% to 80% SoC.

Included is a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L - 3.3 KW) function for charging of external appliances, and two Type 2 charging cables (Mode 2, Mode 3).

Propping-up the chassis is a suspension setup of MacPherson (front) and multi-link (rear).

Inclusively, it is spacious with firm handling and is suitable as a daily-driver. Inside and out, performance- and comfort-wise, the ride quality is satisfactory.

Good sound insulation with the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects accounted for. The build is acoustically-designed to enhance the in-car ambience. 

Overall, the cabin is able to suppress unwanted noises well and make them barely noticeable, in most of the day-to-day driving environment.
