Leapmotor C10

A first Southeast Asian region model from the Stellantis-backed Chinese automaker, Leapmotor, upgraded and launched in Malaysia, the new Leapmotor C10.

A Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the D-segment (SUV) contender underpins the Leap 3.0 Architecture (LPEE 3.0 – Leap 3.0 Four-Leaf-Clover – Cell-To-Chassis 2.0).

Fully-imported (CBU – China), available via Stellantis Malaysia (official distributor) is one variant (C10 – MYR 125,000).

Price (OTR, w/o insurance) covers vehicle (six years/150,000 KM) and battery (eight years/160,000 KM) warranties. Service intervals (fixed – one year/20,000 KM).

Four exterior colours (Glazed Green, Pearly White, Canopy Grey, Tundra Grey). Two interior colours (Camel Brown-Black: Glazed Green – Black: Pearly White, Canopy Grey, Tundra Grey).

The new C10 has a cleanly-tiered dashboard, linked to a high-rising centre console (NFC keycard holder, gear lever-deleted, wireless charger).

Soft-/hard-touched (dash, steering wheel, centre console, doors), it sees two colour schemes (Camel Brown-Black, Black) with contrast trims (Silver).

Filling-up the spaces are floating driver/central displays (instrument cluster, infotainment), air-conditioning vents (dash-concealed) and ambient lights (rhythmic).

Inclusively, the design is clean and seamless with accessibilities ergonomically arranged (driver-centric, passenger-oriented).

Installed is a 10.25-Inch floating driver display (instrument cluster), powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chip (Leap Operating System 4.0 – Leap OS 4.0).

Features are driving displays, dual-zone voice command and Leapmotor mobile app (mobile key, remote access).

Plush, the interior sees leatherette (OEKO-TEX Standard 100 – baby-friendly silicone textile) upholstery in two colour schemes (Camel Brown, Black).

The front gets electric-powered (driver: six-way-adjust, memory, welcome mode, full-recline, heating, ventilation – passenger: four-way-adjust, full-recline, heating, ventilation) ergonomic seats. 

The rear gets a manual-operated (two-way-backrest-adjust, 60:40 split-flat-fold) ergonomic bench (three-seater).

Incorporated is a full-spread layout (front-rear-full-recline-seat-linkage – 1,800 MM long, 1,200 MM wide).

Included are armrests (front – centre console, rear – centre seat fold-out), headrests (removable: front, rear) and a panoramic glass sunroof (42-Inch – fixed – electric sunshade).

A five-seater e-SUV, it offers generous cabin space, providing comfortable seatings for the occupants (front, rear) with ample interior mobility.

Full-spread layout (front-rear-full-recline-seat-linkage – 1,800 MM long, 1,200 MM wide). Spaciously sufficient head (1,050 MM), shoulder and leg (951 MM) rooms.

Mounted is a two-spoke-flat-bottom steering wheel, wrapped in leatherette (Black) with contrast trims (Silver).

Features are multi-switches (Bluetooth, media, vehicle settings, voice command) and column adjustments (electric – tilt, telescopic).

Drive is aided by an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system.

Practical storage areas. E.g., centre console partitioned/caverned/under-stowage spaces, armrest/side door/seatback pockets and glove box.

Provided are four cup holders (two – front, rear) and four bottle holders (one – side doors).

Installed are four USB ports (two-front, two-rear), one 12 V socket (front) and one wireless charger (front – centre console).

Included is a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L – 3.3 KW) function for charging of external appliances. 

Accessing its electric-powered (contactless – remote control/key fob, sensor, button) tailgate, opens to 435-Litres (rear seats up) and 1,410-Litres (rear seats down) of load capacities.

Included is a 32-Litre front trunk (frunk).

Weighing in at 1,980 KG, the new C10 stands at 4,739 MM long, 1,900 MM wide, 1,680 MM tall and with a wheelbase spanning 2,825 MM.

Steadily smooth and sportily sleek, its low-sitting exterior exudes a seamless aesthetic with clean cut and roundly refined contours.

The front-end sees a side sculpted bonnet (Leapmotor emblem), rounded quarter panels and a covered bumper (Active Grille Shutter – AGS).

Accentuations, body clad (Black: bumper, side sills), body trims (Black: grille, window surrounds, side mirrors), roof rails (Black) and Leapmotor emblem (Chrome).

Neatly shaped and horizontally lined, it continues the seamless aesthetic with an uprightly curvy and widened silhouette.

The rear-end sees a straight-cut roofline (shark fin antenna, roof-edge spoiler), an upright tailgate (Leapmotor script), rounded quarter panels and a covered bumper.

Accentuations, body clad (Black: bumper, side sills), body trims (Black: spoiler, window surrounds, shark fin), roof rails (Black) and Leapmotor script (Chrome).

Sharply elongated, the ‘Angle Wings’ headlamps are framed roundly slim and full width (centre light strip). Installed are full LED units.

Features are automatic On/Off/high-/low-beam/height-adjust, Automatic High Beam (AHB), Daytime Running Lights (DRL – LED), follow-me-home lights and sequential turn signals (LED). Included is a set of fog lamps (LED).

Slit-like and slim, the tail lamps are framed full-width (centre light strip) with pointed-wraparound edges. Installed are full LED units. 

Features are automatic On/Off, follow-me-home lights, animated sequence (LED) and sequential turn signals (LED). Included is a high-mounted stop light (spoiler-integrated) and a set of fog lamps (LED).

The side mirrors (Black) are electric-powered (auto-fold, adjust) with reverse-tilt, memory, heating, blind-spot indicators (Blind Spot Detection – BSD) and turn signals. 

Included is an NFC keycard access point (tap – locking/unlocking).

Fitted are ventilated disc brakes (front, rear), incorporating an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Vehicle Hold (AVH) system.

Sportily designed, equipped is a set of 20-Inch multi-spoke (Trident) aluminium-alloy rims, rubbered-up in 245/45 R20 (front, rear) Dunlop e-Sport Maxx tyres.

The new C10 features the LEAP Pilot suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Available are three selectable drive modes (STANDARD, ECO, SPORT).

Installed is a 14.6-Inch floating central touchscreen display (infotainment), powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chip (Leap Operating System 4.0 – Leap OS 4.0).

Features are driving displays, satellite navigation, Wi-Fi/4G network, Bluetooth, dual-zone voice command, Leapmotor mobile app (mobile key, remote access) and Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates.

Entertainment is channelled via an in-house-developed surround sound system (840 W, 12 speakers). Included is an ‘AI (Artificial Intelligence) sound effect’.

Embedded in the new C10 is an all-electric powertrain (BEV).

Nestled is a single-electric-motor (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM) setup (rear-axle-mounted), generating 160 KW (215 HP) and 320 NM.

Mated to the setups is a single-speed automatic transmission.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels, via a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) system.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 KM/H is done in 7.5 seconds and the top speed maxes out at 170 KM/H.

Underpinned is the Leap 3.0 Architecture (LPEE 3.0 – Leap 3.0 Four-Leaf-Clover – Cell-To-Chassis 2.0 – body-integrated battery pack).

Featured is a Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack (69.9 KWH), enabling a total driving range of 424 KM (WLTP).

AC charging (Type 2 – 11 KW) takes 4.0 hours for a 30% to 80% State-of-Charge (SoC). DC charging (CCS2 – 84 KW) takes 30 minutes for a 30% to 80% SoC.

Included is a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L – 3.3 KW) function for charging of external appliances and two charging cables (Type 2 – Mode 2, Mode 3).

Underpinned is the Leap 3.0 Architecture (LPEE 3.0 – Leap 3.0 Four-Leaf-Clover – Cell-To-Chassis 2.0), featuring a specially-tuned drive by Maserati (Stellantis – Italy).

Propping-up the chassis is a suspension setup of MacPherson (front) and multi-link (rear).

Inclusively, it is spacious with firm handling and is suitable as a daily driver. Inside and out, performance- and comfort-wise, the ride quality is satisfactory.

Good sound insulation with the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects accounted for. The build is acoustically designed to enhance the in-car ambience. 

Overall, the cabin can suppress unwanted noises well and make them barely noticeable, in most of the day-to-day driving environment.

The new Leapmotor C10 is built with a sophisticatedly sporty appeal, offering style, performance, space and practicality.

A beautifully sculpted silhouette, it is well-designed with the clean and seamless lines donating a powerful overall contour.
