Apple Car To Be Based On A Hyundai?
Last Friday, shares of Hyundai Motor surged as high as 25% following the news of the company has engaged in conversations with Apple.
“We understand that Apple is in discussion with a variety of global automakers, including Hyundai Motor,” a Hyundai representative told news portal CNBC. “As the discussion is at its early stage, nothing has been decided.”
Reuters meanwhile reported that the American tech giant is targeting 2024 for its own vehicle that includes its own innovative autonomous driving and battery technologies.
Apart from battery-EV vehicles such as the Ioniq, Hyundai has already been selling the Nexo, a hydrogen fuel cell-EV (FCEV), in its home country and certain developed markets since 2018.
By 2025, the company aims to become the world’s third-largest automaker of eco-friendly vehicles, increasing its yearly Battery-EV sales to 560,000 units.
