Kia Corporation introduces the EV6, a dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) based on the company’s new EV platform (Electric-Global Modular Platform, or E-GMP) which is a first for the company.

“EV6 is the embodiment of both our brand purpose, ‘Movement that inspires’, and our new design philosophy. It has been designed to inspire every journey by offering an instinctive and natural experience that improves the daily lives of our customers, and provide user ownership that is simple, intuitive and integrated,” said Senior Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design Center, Karim Habib. “Our aim is to design the physical experience of our brand and to create bold, original and inventive electric vehicles.”

Highlighting new design philosophy, the model is Kia’s first next-generation BEVs that will be manufactured with the focus of the company’s venture into electrification.

Due to a new approach, Kia’s new BEV line up will be given names according to their new naming strategy in order to bring simplicity and consistency to Kia’s EV nomenclature to markets all over the world.

So for customers to achieve a better understanding on which Kia’s products are fully electric, all of the company’s new dedicated BEVs will start with the prefix ‘EV’, which will then be accompanied by a number that relates to the car’s position in the line-up.

The EV6 will premiere globally in the first quarter of 2021 with emphasis on Kia's new brand slogan, ‘Movement that inspires’.
