The All-New Toyota Corolla Cross Will Be Coming Soon And This Is What Thailand Gets
It was speculated that UMW Toyota Motor will be introducing the most anticipated Toyota Corolla Cross to Malaysian markets on March 25 at 8.30pm.

The model was previously confirmed to launch during the second quarter of 2021 and it is expected to be introduced through a virtual event which was said to be available on the company’s official website, Facebook page and Youtube Channel.
Toyota Corolla Cross was previously launched to Thailand markets in July 2020 and was made available in four variants; the Corolla Cross 1.8 Sport, Corolla Cross Hybrid Smart, Corolla Cross Hybrid Premium and the Corolla Cross Hybrid Premium Safety variant. Prices are 959,000 Baht (RM 128,178), 1,019,000 Baht (RM 136,197), 1,089,000 Baht (RM 145,553), and 1,199,000 Baht (RM 160,256) respectively. However, Malaysia is said to only be receiving two variants.

The crossover comes with seven exterior shade options that include Metal Stream Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Red Mica Metallic, Celestite Gray Metallic, Nebula Blue, Graphite Metallic and Platinum White Pearl.

Following that, the Cross stands at 4,460 mm long, 1,825 mm wide, 1,620 mm high and a wheelbase of 2,640 mm.
Under the hood, Thailand's Corolla Cross comes with two powertrain options; the 1.8-litre petrol-only engine and a 1.8-litre hybrid engine. The petrol engine produces 140 hp and 177 Nm of torque, along with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
As for the hybrid engine, inclusive of a 600-volt permanent magnet synchronous motor, it produces 72 hp and 163 Nm of torque. This engine is also paired with the 1.8-litre gasoline mill that produces 98 hp and 142 Nm of torque, as well as an E-CVT automatic.
Based on the engine specs above, it was rumoured that Malaysia could also be given a choice between petrol and hybrid variants. The petrol option is a 2ZR-FE 1.8 litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder which may be paired with a CVT combination that is similar to C-HR and Corolla sedan models. This will produce 140 hp and 172 Nm of torque.
As for the hybrid version, we may be offered an Atkinson-cycle version of that engine, the 2ZR-FXE that produces 98 hp and 142 Nm of torque. On top of that, this version will also be paired with electric motors that produce 72 hp and 163 Nm of torque, coming up to a total system output of 122 hp. There are also speculations saying that there's a possibility of a 1.0-litre engine option, well all we can do is to wait and find out.
On top of that, Thailand’s Corolla Cross also gets the signature Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), along with Toyota Safety Sense that consists of safety features such as Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beam, as well as Panoramic View Monitor, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear CROSS Traffic Alert, and 7 SRS Airbags.
