Athlete Brings A More Rugged And Sportier Mitsubishi Triton

Today, Malaysia is getting to witness the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete in all its glory, as it has just been unleashed by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM).
The all-new Triton Athlete is the flagship model of the Mitsubishi Triton 4x4 pick-up range and it will be replacing the Triton Adventure X.
In terms of regional pricing, the Triton Athlete has a price tag of RM 141,500 for Peninsular Malaysia, RM 132,827 for Langkawi, RM 143,500 for Sabah, RM 143,550 for Sarawak and RM 135,278 for Labuan.
On variant pricing terms, as it comes in 6 variants, they are priced as such, Triton Athlete at RM 141,500, Triton AT Premium at RM 121,000, Triton MT Premium at RM 113,300, Triton AT at RM 105,990, Triton MT at RM 100,200, Triton Quest at RM 79,890.
It will be available in three shades, which are Sun Flare Orange Pearl, White Diamond and Jet-Black Mica. Also, the all-new Triton Athlete comes packing with extra accessories to match its stylish yet rugged presence.
Aesthetic wise, at the front, the Triton Athlete is heightened by a sleek looking gloss black lower garnish. Paired to a ‘Dynamic Shield’ front design concept, in which it incorporates a glossy black radiator grille and sporty ‘Athlete’ graphic design side stripe sticker.
Panning around, the Triton’s exterior layout has an overall black theme. It can be seen on the side mirrors, door handles, aero type window deflectors, 18-inch gloss black rims and the side steps.
Moving into the interior, it comes with orange-stitching leather wrapped steering, gear knobs and LED illuminated scuff plates. Moreover, the Triton Athlete also comes with a first-in-class rear air circulator.
Entertainment wise, it is installed with a 7-Inch touchscreen audio infotainment that supports Apple Carplay and Android Ready.
Performance side of things, the Triton Athlete is sporting a 2.4-litre MIVEC turbo diesel engine with Variable Valve Timing technology. It is able to produce 181 PS of maximum power and 430 Nm of maximum torque.
As for the standard safety features for the Triton Athlete, it includes Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist (BSW with LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS), Auto High Beam (AHB) and 7 SRS airbags.
Furthering that list, it is also equipped with an All-Round Monitor (ARM) and a Driving Video Recorder (DVR).
The driving dynamics offer excellent control, as the Triton Athlete is fitted with Super Select 4WD II with off-road mode for optimum traction and handling characteristics in any given terrain.
Adding on to that, the Triton Athlete also comes with Hill Descent Control where the vehicle speed is electronically controlled while it is in a descent mode.
All the prices aforementioned are on-the-road and without insurance and it comes with a 5-Year or 200, 000 km whichever comes first warranty.
