Toyota’s Luxury SUV - Toyota Harrier Has Finally Landed in Malaysia!
UMW Toyota Motor, the sole importer, distributor and assembler of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia has just revealed the all-new fourth generation Toyota Harrier.
Ever since its first introduction in 1997, the Harrier has become a household name in Malaysia in regards to reliability.
“The all-new Harrier is emotive, expressive and elegant, and will further cement the strong appeal that the model has continued to enjoy in the Malaysian market.” said UMW Toyota Motor President Ravindran K.
Launched in Japan last year, Malaysia is one of the two countries where the vehicle is sold officially. Every purchase will include a full factory five-year unlimited mileage warranty as well as extensive after-sales support with ready availability of genuine parts at Toyota service centres nationwide.
The all-new Toyota Harrier comes in a single variant, the Harrier 2.0 Luxury which is available in five colours namely White pearl Crystal Shine, Steel Blonde Metallic, Dark Blue Metallic, Slate Gray Metallic and Precious Black. To compare, the Singapore model has two variants - 2.0 Elegance and 2.5 Hybrid Luxury and offers an additional Sensual Red Mica alongside the five colours that Malaysian has.

For its exterior, the fourth generation model is fitted with Bi-LED headlamps, rear LED combination lamps, auto retractable wing mirror with LED signal lamp and welcome light, kick-sensor powered tailgate, dual oval muffler and rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. The vehicle is also bigger than its predecessor, while maintaining a more pronounced stance aligned with the Dignified Elegance concept by Toyota.

The concept of Dignified Elegance also flows throughout the interior, defining a premium feel and versatility with the combination of high quality materials and finish. The vehicle comes with dual zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, High Grade Optitron Meter with Head-Up Display and Colour Multi-Information Display, smart entry and start system, digital rear view mirror, wireless charging as well as a fixed panoramic moonroof.

“The Harrier has traditionally been a trend setter, taking a unique approach in terms of styling and overall packaging that has successfully set it apart from other competitors. The new model not only retains this bold position but is confident of being able to define new merits befitting the modern day premium urban SUV,” said UMW Toyota Motor Deputy Chairman Akio Takeyama.
Moving on to the performance of the vehicle, the Harrier 2.0 Luxury is powered by Toyota’s recent Dynamic Force (M20A-FKS) 2.0-litre four cylinder DOHC engine with Dual VVT-i with Direct-Shift CVT. Being the most advanced version of the system developed since its introduction 30 years ago, the engine allows for a quicker response thanks to it being operated electronically. This results in the vehicle to produce 170 hp and 203 Nm respectively, with a 15.3km/l fuel efficiency.

Features have been upgraded in the new Harrier, boosting its safety via the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) technologies. The TSS includes Pre-crash System (PCS, or alternatively known as Autonomous Emergency Braking), Lane Departure Warning (LDA) with Steering Assist, Adaptive High-beam System (AHS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) for All Speeds and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Auto Brake (RCTAB).
Not only that, Toyota also focuses on passenger comfort with further reduction of Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) with the inclusion of highly-efficient sound-absorbing windows. This results in a quiet cabin and a more premium driving experience.
The premium driving experience also continues with a low center of gravity for the Toyota Harrier. Built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) GA-K platform, this allows the vehicle to have better driving performance while maintaining comfort and agility.

Fully imported from Toyota’s Takaoka factory located in Japan, the Harrier 2.0 Luxury is priced at RM249,706.50 exclusive of road tax and insurance.
