BMW Group Malaysia Unveiled The First-Ever Long Wheelbase BMW 330Li M Sport, The New BMW X3 sDrive20i xLine, And A Year-Long Upcycling Initiative.
BMW Group Malaysia has just announced the reveal of two new locally-assembled models as well as a year-long upcycling initiative to tackle plastic pollution.
One of the two models is the BMW 330Li M Sport, which is the first-ever long wheelbase variant in its compact executive sedan portfolio for the Malaysian market.

“The BMW 3 Series has been a consistent chart-topper for the BMW portfolio in Malaysia - with over 2,500 units delivered to satisfied customers across Malaysia in 2020 alone. The success of the BMW 3 Series lies in its ingenious architecture that offers unparalleled versatility, while preserving the sporty DNA that underlines BMW’s Sheer Driving Pleasure.” said BMW Group Malaysia managing director Harald Hoelzi.
The new model includes a greater and enhanced perception of the 3 Series, with the recent addition of the New My BMW App. Prioritising comfort and practicality, the vehicle also aims to provide elegance in design that is seamless. The BMW 330i M Sport will come in two colours, Mineral White and Carbon Black which complements the Leather Vernasca upholstery in Mocha with black stitching.

Compared to the current BMW 330i M Sport, the First-Ever BMW 330Li M Sport measures at a length of 4,819mm and wheelbase length of 2,961mm which are the main visual differentiators between these two models. The new model also gets a 6mm increase, resulting in a height of 1,441mm. The new dynamic silhouette design is also complimented with the BMW Individual High-Gloss Shadow Line and a coupé-like roofline.
Performance-wise, the new model is powered by a four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine with Steptronic Sport transmission which produces 258 hp from 5,000 to 6,500 rpm and 400 Nm from 1,550 to 4,400 rpm. This allows for an 0-100km/h acceleration of 6.2 seconds and 250km/h top speed. Fuel consumption is approximately 6.4litres for every 100 kilometres and carbon emission is measured at 147g/km.

Key safety features include Cruise Control with braking function, Parking Assistant with rear view mirror and the BMW Active Pedestrian Safety system. As standard, the model will be equipped with a Driving Assistant which features lane departure warning, lane change warning, front collision warning, cross traffic warning and rear collision prevention. An Intelligent Emergency Call functionality will also be available to ensure live assistance and support 24/7.
Moving on to the next reveal is the newest variant of the X3, the BMW X3 sDrive20i xLine. The new model is now a new addition to the class-leading portfolio of the premium mid-sized Sports Activity vehicle (SAV) in Malaysia.

Hoelzi stated, “The BMW X3 has been one of our leading models in the local market in terms of deliveries since its first introduction in 2011. Ten years on, we are humbled to continue delivering this powerful SAV in a variety of different specifications and variants to our customers here in Malaysia – designed to suit every individual lifestyle.”
The New BMW X3 sDrive20i xLine exudes an all-new sporty design which is both individualistic and stylishly rugged, fitted to any adventure setting.

Four colours are offered for the New BMW X3 sDrive20i xLine namely Alpine White, Glacier Silver, Black Sapphire and Phytonic Blue. All offerings will be paired with black Leather vernasca upholstery with black stitching, similar to the BMW 330Li M Sport.
The new variant is powered by a four-cylinder TwinPower turbo engine with an 8-Speed Automatic Steptronic with Automatic Hold Function transmission, which allows the engine to produce 184 hp from 5,000 to 6,500 rpm and 300 Nm form 1,350 to 4,000 rpm. The new SAV will also be capable of a century sprint in 8.2 seconds with a 215km/h top speed.
Key features include Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant, BMW Live Cockpit Plus, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, Intelligent Emergency Call, Comfort Access system, Storage Compartment Package and smartphone connectivity.
Alongside the two reveals, BMW Group Malaysia also announced a year-long multi-stakeholder upcycling initiative which will incorporate Precious Plastic machines to give a second life to the plastic waste obtained from all of the company’s activities.
The company aims to lower carbon emissions from all of its production sites by 80 percent, focusing on the biggest reductions industry-wide in this area by 2030. BMW Group Malaysia will participate in research, innovation and collaborative expertise on a global scale in order to achieve their goal.
“To exemplify the BMW Group’s solutions-focused direction, we must lead a movement by example – no matter the size of impact left. Here at BMW Group Malaysia, we are putting words into action by installing our own Precious Plastic machines to give our office, household, and daily plastic waste a second, more meaningful life,” said its corporate communication head Sashi Ambi.
