Updated 2026 MINI Countryman EV Gets Up to 501 km WLTP Range

The updated 2026 MINI Countryman EV gains some improved battery tech that boosts its travel range to 501 km (WLTP).
MINI has announced the updated 2026 version of the MINI Countryman EV ahead of its official debut later in March. Chief amongst the little upgrades given to this EV SUV is the improved battery technology that MINI claims has boosted its EV range to 501 km, according to the WLTP standards.

The battery tech in question comes in the form of a new silicon-carbide inverter that MINI claims helps to reduce energy loss in converting DC from the car’s battery to AC used by its motors, plus new low-friction wheel bearings on the front axle. As for the battery itself, MINI has upgraded the net capacity of the battery pack from 64.6 kWh to 65.2 kWh, while its gross capacity remains unchanged at 66.5 kWh.

The result, as mentioned above, is the extended travel range for the Countryman EV of up to 501 km (WLTP), which is a slight improvement over the current version’s 432 km–462 km WLTP range. The rest of the powertrain setup, however, remains unchanged, with the single-motor Countryman E still rated at 204 PS (150 kW) and 250 Nm, while the dual-motor Countryman SE All4 caps the range with 313 PS (230 kW) and 494 Nm.

Also unchanged is the rest of the car, where the Countryman EV didn’t get any significant design changes over the current model. Buyers can still spec them with the default Favoured Trim, which includes several silver-hued trims, 20-inch Windmill Spoke alloy wheels, and many more.

The same goes for the interior, where the 2026 Countryman EV still rocks the same quirky 24 cm rounded OLED screen that not only supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but also acts as the main operation centre for the car. Other amenities primed here include a dedicated head-up display (HUD) replacing the conventional metre cluster, knitted fabric upholstery, and more.

As of writing, the MINI Countryman EV is available in a single, fully imported (CBU) SE All4 version in Malaysia, retailing at RM258,888 or RM266,288 with the MINI Extended Warranty & Service Package included. Given that BMW Group Malaysia recently started the local production (CKD) of its first EV with the 2026 BMW i5, we would be keen to see the updated MINI Countryman EV get the same CKD treatment once it debuts locally.
