Mitsubishi Motors has recorded historical high sales performance in April 2021 with 1,872 vehicles sold.

This resulted to the company maintained the top three position in the non-national brand ranking for the fourth consecutive month.

The Mitsubishi XPANDER which was launched in November 2020, continued to set the sales numbers with more than 10,000 bookings. It has contributed 982 units by achieving 52 percent of the company’s April sales.

“We are very pleased that the Mitsubishi XPANDER sales remain healthy despite the Movement Control Order (MCO) and Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). We are continuing our best efforts to meet with strong demand for the XPANDER by increasing our production while maintaining a high level of product quality,” said Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia chief executive officer Tomoyuki Shinnishi.

The Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck had also maintained a solid market share of close to 20 percent and remains as a favourite choice within the pick-up segment despite a healthy competition from its newly launched rivals. The company has sold 680 units of Triton and delivered 142 units of new Triton Athlete in April.

“Although there was Covid-19 pandemic, we are relieved to see our sales remain optimistic and constantly moving towards a positive direction. We are aware that our customers aim to purchase their cars before the SST exemption expires by the end of June this year. Despite the challenges of supply constraints, Mitsubishi Motors is working our best to meet the expectation of our customers on the delivery preference,” Shinnishi added.

As one of Malaysia’s leading automotive companies, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is now represented by 52 showrooms and 3 of them are 3S (sales, service and spare parts) centres, 53 service outlets throughout Malaysia while 7 showrooms in Sabah and Sarawak.
