The Toyota 86 Is Not Good Enough? Maybe The All-New GR 86 Would Suit You!
The new GR 86 recently debuted in an online event held by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) alongside Subaru Corporation (Subaru).
Scheduled to launch in Japan around autumn 2021, the vehicle is the third global model in TGR’s GR series of sports cars, following the GR Supra and GR Yaris.

Back in 2012, the 86 was developed with the goal of delivering dreams and the joy of driving which naturally comes with sports cars. Originated as a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicle with top-notch handling and responsiveness, the 86 has been utilized as base models for an array of motorsports, from rallies, one-make races to dirt trials and even customized for specific motorsports events. More than 200,000 units of the GR 86 have been sold worldwide, proving reliability for their owners.
Recently, the TGR’s new GR 86 and Subaru’s new BRZ were jointly developed providing two vehicles of the same vehicle base with two distinct driving experiences. TGR developed a vehicle that would be able to provide satisfaction for 86 fans, ensuring evolution of the vehicle’s unique driving. This results in a GR 86 that is designed for sports performance with direct and pleasurable driving performance.

Key features of the GR 86 include a lightweight, compact 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine which allows the vehicle to complete a century sprint in 6.3 seconds which is 1.1 seconds faster than its predecessor. It also features Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist technology, which provides safety support in everyday driving with pre-collision safety technologies as well as emergency rescue support and secondary collision avoidance support.

Besides that, not much has changed apart from the body kit design, engine responsiveness, agility, body rigidity that allows the 86 to ensure greater and enhanced performance.
