Muar Uses Bus As Vaccine Administration Center, Another Effective Vaccination Strategy?

In an effort to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the government has put in place various strategies to accelerate the vaccination program for Malaysian citizens.
Recently, the use of buses for vaccination programs in the state of Johor went viral on social media.
According to Muar District Officer Mustaffa Kamal Shamsudin, the main purpose of the program was to facilitate vaccination for the elderly which was ongoing from June 9 to June 13 at the Penghulu Mukim Air Hitam Complex. The second session will start from today, June 14, at the Sungai Balang Mukim Penghulu Complex until June 23.

“Senior citizens who are to receive the vaccine at this mobile vaccination unit consist of those who are registered with the MySejahtera application and have received an appointment date for the COVID-19 vaccine injection but their residence is far from the designated vaccine administration centre.
“This is also inclusive of senior citizens who have not registered but were helped by the Muar District Health Office (PKD) with the cooperation of the penghulu and village head until they got an appointment date at this mobile vaccination unit,” he added.
Many people praised this initiative as it is indeed much more effective for the public especially for people in rural areas or the elderly who face physical constraints.

Based on a statement made on the Facebook account of the Muar District Office, this mobile vaccination unit is the result of a collaboration between the Muar District Disaster Management Committee and the Muar District Health Office, supported by the Mayang Sari Express Bus Company.
