Most Roads Are Still Swarming On The First Day Of Total Lockdown!

Weird but true!

On the first day of the total lockdown yesterday, the atmosphere around the city looked quite odd when thousands of vehicles flooded the entire road as early as 7 AM!

“A total lockdown is implemented, but why are the streets still congested?”

That's the question which netizens on social media raised, who described the traffic jam shouldn’t have happened as the first phase total lockdown season started yesterday.

Additionally, from Caricarz’s understanding, congestion only occurred near roadblocks (SJR) as the police conduct detailed checks on every driver passing through several major roads around the capital.

To answer the netizen's question, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) admitted that the road congestion occurred from various directions around the city centre.

The results of DBKL's monitoring also found that the traffic flow was relatively slow from the National Heart Institute to the Pahang Roundabout, including around Kuala Lumpur-Seremban expressway.

"Congestion also occurred around the Petronas and Shell petrol stations located at Technology Park Malaysia (TPM) leading to the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza," he said on Twitter.

On the other hand, the Home Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, said that the average vehicle movement seemed to have decreased by at least 80 percent yesterday.

He pointed out that the traffic jams reported were actually happening around the roadblocks site at times when people went out to go to work.

Meanwhile, multiple pictures shared on social media showed the atmosphere in Jalan Bukit Bintang which looked quiet with almost all business premises closed.

However, it is noted that if you do not comply with the rules of the Full Control of Movement Order, you could actually be sentenced to imprisonment under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).

We should always avoid making the law a 'push-factor' for us to act, but rather instill a responsible attitude in ourselves!

Regardless, let us work together to curb the COVID-19 wave by following instructions from the authorities!
