Distribution Of Permai Financial Assistance For Public Service Drivers Has Started
The Ministry Of Finance Malaysia has started the distribution of a one-off financial aid to drivers of taxis, school buses, sightseeing buses and e-hailing cars from 22nd February, just 5 weeks after the announcement was made.
Under the Malaysian government’s latest “Permai” economy and people’s assistance package announced in January, the group who worked in public transportation are set to receive the financial assistance of RM500.
“Some 20,000 taxi and rental car drivers have received the assistance which has been credited into the accounts of the drivers involved, while the remaining 15,000 will receive the assistance in stages by March 15, 2021,” said Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz in a statement on Monday.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong said close to 110,000 drivers will benefit from this Permai aid. The remaining 75,000 drivers will receive their payment from this Friday and distributed in stages.
Payment for e-hailing drivers will be managed by their respective e-hailing operators (EHO).
This is the second of such financial aid distribution to the specific target group, as their source of income has been severely affected due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Last year, approximately 120,000 drivers received financial aid from a total allotment of RM66 million.
For individuals involved, one can check on the approval via the Land Public Transport Agency’s (APAD) website, here.
