MINI recently introduced the New MINI Electric, now with brand new features. Now everyone can be sustainable, stylish and best of all, no carbon footprint!

“MINI is synonymous with passion, and it is with electrifying passion that we present the latest variant of the MINI Electric that was first introduced in Malaysia mid-August last year. This has steadily become an icon of the MINI portfolio, and we are proud to see this model perform exceptionally in Malaysia.

The New MINI Electric is part of the next generation MINI vehicles, which will adopt a more progressive design language while still retaining the brand’s charm and heritage,” said BMW Group Malaysia managing director Hans de Visser.

“Over 250 electrified MINI vehicles were delivered since the electrified MINI portfolio was introduced locally with the MINI Countryman Plug-In Hybrid in 2018. The MINI Electric itself accounts for more than 30 units which were quickly snapped up soon after its launch last year.

This is an electromobility win for us at MINI Malaysia, as it exemplifies not only the nation’s growing interest for electromobility in the country, but points towards stronger uptake in the months to come,” he added.

The New MINI Electric has been revised with new front bumpers that now come with integrated air curtains and a new body-colour safety bar that rests on top the front bumper. The previous E badge has now been replaced with a new yellow S Badge and a black surround now complements the hexagonal shape of the vehicle’s radiator grille.

In addition to that, the adaptive LED headlights with Matrix Functionality are now equipped with high-gloss black inner housing. It also includes LED indicators and Electric-specific inserts.

At the rear, the tailgate handle is now in a sleek black shade but the model has maintained the 17-inch wheels in the MINI Electric Power Spoke two-tone with run flat tyres.

Under the hood, the vehicle is powered by a front-axle electric engine that produces 184 hp or 135kW and a 12-module T-shaped battery unit that produces up to 28.9kWh. The New MINI Electric has a peak torque of 270 Nm and consumes 17.6 – 15.2kWh for every 100km of travel.

The vehicle reaches the maximum speed of 150km/h and a driving range of up to 232km (WLTP), as well as is able to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds.

Offering a range of charging capabilities, the New MINI Electric only needs around 36 minutes to go from zero to 80 percent charge when charging at a DC charging station. On top of that, similar to recharging at a public AC charging station, the MINI Wallbox Plus offers an 80 percent charge in only two and half hours.

The driver is able to monitor the charging process of the vehicle through the MINI App or even on the inside of the charging flap, at the Digital Instrument Cluster.

Following that, it also comes with a new steering wheel design that includes horizontal spokes and multi-function buttons in a Piano Black finish.

Additional highlights include modernised inner and outer air vents that have been brought into the cockpit fascias, new ambient lighting in the form of light strips, as well as new door bezel décor and the MINI Controller in Piano black and black respectively.

Equipped with an 8.8-inch MINI Navigation System with the full MINI Connected suite, the driver will have access to new Concierge Services, on top of the standard Teleservices, Remote Services, Intelligent Emergency Call, MINI Online and Apple Carplay.

Not only that, it also comes with MINI Head Up Display, and the 12-Speaker 360-watt Harman Kardon Sound System.

Also available in the New MINI Electric are advanced connectivity features, audio and navigation features under the Digital Instrument Cluster. This allows the display of key information on the charging status of the vehicle such as remaining time, percentage of charge, available range and also temperature outside the vehicle, along with the current MINI Driving Mode.

Coming as standard is the MINI eDrive that provides digital services and functions to suit the individuals’ driving needs. Other than that, there is the Green Driving Assistant (GDA) that includes the Range Assistant that provides the driver with solutions in the event of insufficient battery.

Not only will it propose a more efficient course (Green Route) but also driving mode or the closest charging stations. Next to that, the vehicle also has a range circle which will display the range within the chosen driving mode in the map.

The new MINI App includes features such as remote access to vehicle charging status and electric range, charging history, along with Remote Services to locate the vehicle and lock or unlock the doors, send navigational directions such as charging stations from a smartphone directly to the vehicle, as well as turning on the air conditioning system in the vehicle remotely.

Also coming as standard is the Driving Assistant system which consists of the Speed Limit info and the digital high-beam assistant. Other features in the system include person warning and approach control warning, both with light city braking function.

Not forgetting that it comes with Park Assistant, front and rear Park Distance Control, and Cruise Control with braking function.

As for safety, the Lane Departure Warning feature now comes standard on all new MINI models, a first for the MINI family line-up.

The model is offered in shades such as the exclusive White Silver with Black Roof and Energetic Yellow Accents, the British Racing Green with Black Roof and Black Mirror Caps, and the Midnight Black with White Roof and Energetic Yellow Accents.

At the price of RM 217,470.73, the New MINI Electric is now available at all authorised MINI dealerships nationwide. However, customers who are interested are advised to check out the model online through the official MINI website, mini.my, as dealerships are closed for physical viewing due to the current Movement Control Order.

The New MINI Electric is also available for online booking at RM1,000 via the MINI eShop platform at mini.my
