Calling all vehicle users in Malaysia! The Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) has informed that all matters at the counters of agencies under MOT, namely the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), Puspakom, Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) and also LPKP Sarawak has been temporarily suspended from its operations.
However, the suspension of operations does not include important matters or essential services involving cross-border travel.
“Following the closure involving JPJ, flexibility is given to owners of Driving License (LM), Motor Vehicle License (LKM) and Vocational License (PSV/GDL) which expires on any date between June 1 to July 31, 2021 are allowed to renew LM , LKM and PSV respectively within a period of 60 days from 1 August to 30 September 2021.
"Just like before, owners of expired LKMs must ensure that their vehicles have valid insurance coverage and show a copy of the insurance coverage certificate (e-cover note) if requested by the authorities," said MOT in a statement.
Due to over the counter operations being temporarily suspended, vehicle ownership exchange transactions can still be done online using the e-auto or MyEG platform.

The operating hours for kiosks inside JPJ premises are available from 8.30 am to 4 pm, while kiosks outside JPJ premises are available from 6 am to 8 pm.
For APAD and CVLB services, the MOT announced that renewals for licenses as well as permits for Operator Licenses, Commercial Vehicle Permits, Tourist Vehicle Licenses and Driver Cards are exempted.
"All licenses and permits mentioned above are allowed to operate even if they have expired provided they have valid insurance coverage."
Meanwhile, for the convenience of the public, the validity period of Puspakom's inspection approval has been extended based on the balance once the PKP 3.0 period expires.
The MOT advises the public to deal with the relevant agencies online. For the latest information on the services under MOT, you can visit the official website or the social media of the relevant agency.
