Anthony Loke Forces Vulnerable JPJ Systems Back Online Despite Active Fraud Exposure
![]()
Transport Minister Anthony Loke has officially ordered the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to reverse its sudden suspension of the online vehicle ownership transfer system. With immediate effect, the system is back online, meaning regular users, car buyers, and third-party partners like MyEG and eAuto can perform transactions again.
But here’s the kicker: the system is being forced back into active service despite JPJ explicitly warning the ministry that active fraudulent activities, system abuse, and unauthorized vehicle transfers are currently taking place.
By prioritizing smooth counter operations over an immediate security patch, the decision essentially leaves a known vulnerability wide open until the upcoming long weekend.
Here is the high-stakes breakdown of what went down behind the scenes and why this decision is a massive gamble:
1. The Nightmare Scenario: People are Having Their Cars Stolen Online
Real-world identity theft that hits car owners right where it hurts. JPJ didn't just decide to upgrade its platform on a whim. The department announced the sudden total freeze on online transfers after receiving multiple official complaints of unauthorized vehicle ownership transfers carried out completely without the registered owners' knowledge. Essentially, scammers were managing to hijack car titles digitally through the system, forcing JPJ into an emergency defensive posture to protect citizens' property.
2. A Massive Legal Gamble For JPJ

JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli
During urgent discussions, JPJ management informed the Ministry of Transport that these fraudulent security breaches have actively exposed the department to massive liabilities. In plain English, if the government's portal allows hackers or scammers to illegally transfer asset titles, JPJ could be held legally responsible for stolen assets.
3. Why Anthony Loke Rejected The Immediate Lockdown
Anticipating a complete administrative gridlock and massive congestion at JPJ offices nationwide, Anthony Loke stepped in to veto the sudden shutdown. He advised JPJ that system improvements simply cannot come at the expense of disrupting daily public operations and ruining the routine affairs of regular users.
4. The Compromise: A Tense Countdown to the Long Weekend
Instead of keeping the gate locked while fixing the fence, JPJ has agreed to Loke’s terms to keep the digital doors wide open during the busy workweek. The critical, emergency system upgrade works have now been officially delayed. JPJ will only be permitted to suspend online services and implement its security overhaul during the upcoming long weekend holiday.
5. What This Means For Car Buyers, Sellers, and Used Car Dealers Right Now

If you need to transfer a vehicle title right now, the public portal, internal kiosks, MyEG Services Berhad, and eAuto Sdn Bhd are fully functional again. However, knowing that the system remains structurally vulnerable until the weekend maintenance window drops, users are highly encouraged to keep a close eye on their vehicle ownership status and public portal profiles until the security patch is fully rolled out.
Is this a necessary relief?
There is no denying that Anthony Loke just saved thousands of Malaysians from a bureaucratic nightmare at physical JPJ counters this week. But by overruling JPJ’s emergency lockdown, the Transport Ministry is playing a high-stakes game.
Delaying a vital security patch to appease the public means gambling against active fraudsters who now know exactly when their final window of opportunity closes.
