A Stunning Flair With Dynamic Versatility, The 2022 Lexus GX Exhibits Them Proudly
Lexus’ GX 460 now comes with some stunning new offerings, displaying exceptional craftsmanship, striking style, and dynamic versatility.
For 2022, the head-turning GX adds the Black Line Special Edition treatment to the line-up along with plenty of new upgrades across the entire range.
First off, all GX 460 Black Line models reflect Lexus’ core values of ‘omotenashi’ and ‘takumi’ craftsmanship, which features unique premium finishes.

Each Black Line Special Edition trim arrives in style with the fog lamp garnish and eye-catching design that amazes at every turn.
Accompanying the Black Line specialness are 18-inch wheels finished in glossy black and blackout chrome grille surround.
Additional details include unique Black Line lower front and rear bumper valance design, Garnet Red taillights, black roof rails and body-coloured door handles.
Completing the exterior aesthetics are the choices of paint hues ranging from Starfire Pearl, Black Onyx and the GX Black Line-exclusive, Nori Green Pearl.

As for the standard models, the muscular GX features an imposing stance, a modern front fascia with premium triple-beam LED headlamps that comes with optional 19-inch wheels, among others.
Diving inside, present is a black headliner and a confluence of surfaces covered in bi-tone black Nuluxe with grey-coloured bolster inserts and stitching.
Also, Matte Black Ash Wood trim on the GX’s steering wheel is standard on all Black Line Special Editions.

Furthermore, as an option, the GX 460 comes with Lexus roof rail crossbars that can be fitted for added function and styling.
Connectivity, all GX models now come with an enhanced centre console, updated 10.3-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa integration.
Apart from that, the models also come with the latest smartphone vehicle integrations and their respective virtual assistants.
In which the same familiar interface of the desired technologies can be accessed through the GX’s standard 10.3-inch touchscreen dashboard display.

The premium suite of connected technology also offers multiple ways to stay connected, including the 3-year Lexus Enform Remote trial to remotely start the engine using selected smart devices.
Plus, with six USB ports throughout the GX, both the driver and passengers can keep all their smart devices charged and ready.
Performance-wise, it is built to be a dual-purpose luxury vehicle. Every GX 460 is powered by a 4.6-litre V8 mill that produces 301 hp of power and 446 Nm of peak torque.
It also has a 2,948 kg towing capacity, which is aided with the Trailer Sway Control (TSC), a function of the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) that enhances straight-line tracking.
On top of that, the GX utilises the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), which enhances handling and ride comfort by helping to keep the vehicle level in both on and off-road conditions.

Works in such a way when the GX encounters an uneven surface, one compressed cylinder causes fluid to flow to the other cylinder, helping the vehicle to keep all four wheels on the ground.
Aiding the GX for further on-road smoothness is the available Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which uses electronically controlled dampers that adjust to road surface conditions.
Said function offers the driver an option to tailor the ride by selecting from Normal, Sport or Comfort drive modes. It also rides on a full-time automatic four-wheel-drive system.
Besides that, the Torsen torque-sensing limited-slip centre differential distributes power 40:60 front to rear under most driving conditions and changes the ratio as needed based on wheel slip.
The four-wheel-drive system offers a low range for slow speed off-road driving, and the centre differential can be electronically locked.
Notably, the two-speed transfer case with low range is supported with a wide array of chassis control technology.

Ranging from Downhill Assist Control (DAC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and available Crawl Control.
If that is not enough, an Off-Road Package is further offered for the Luxury grade trims that enhances the GX’s already capable skillset.
For instance, it offers Lexus’ Multi-Terrain Monitor and Panoramic View Monitors with driver and passenger cameras, transmission cooler, fuel tank protector, Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select.
To paint a picture, the Multi-Terrain Select allows you to choose from multiple surfaces such as loose rocks, mud and sand, moguls and more to optimise drivability.
This advanced system regulates wheelspin by automatically adjusting the engine throttle and brakes, helping improve traction.
Along with the Multi-Terrain Monitor and Panoramic View Monitors, front passengers can view front, rear, side and now under the vehicle.
In brief, it displays terrain and tire location underneath your vehicle with a camera that can be viewed on the navigation screen, providing the most avid off-road driver peace of mind.
Activated with the press of a button, the available Crawl Control system is designed to automatically maintain an optimal slow and steady pace over demanding landscapes.
Specially designed for driving on rugged terrain at low speeds and automatically modulates the throttle and brakes on five low-speed settings.
Engaged when the vehicle is in low range, Crawl Control allows the vehicle to move forward and backwards under individual five driver-selectable low-speed settings.
Above all, the Crawl Control also engages the front and rear ‘virtual’ locking differentials to help reduce tire slippage and optimise chassis behaviour.

Safety system-wise, the GX 460 now comes with the Lexus Safety System+ suite of technologies that is standard for the entire 2022 Lexus vehicle line-up.
It includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Intelligent High Beams and High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Also, standard is the Intuitive Parking Assist.
Overall, the 2022 Lexus GX 460 range offers a new way for Lexus owners to express their style and enjoy a seamlessly premium in-cabin experience.
