Toyota GR GT Duo Teased Alongside Lexus Sport Coupe Ahead of Dec 5 Debut

Toyota’s new GR GT duo has been teased alongside its Lexus coupe counterpart ahead of its December 5th debut.
Toyota has just dropped a new teaser showcasing three of its “all-new sports models,” which are set to debut later on Dec 5. From the shadow-draped teaser image, the trio could potentially be the production version of the Lexus Sport Concept, alongside the much-anticipated Toyota GR GT supercar duo.

We’ll start with the Lexus first, as this is the model that we’ve already seen in its concept form earlier this year. From said teaser image, we can see that the production version of the Lexus Sport Concept will adopt the same slim LED taillights while retaining the sleek two-door coupe bodystyle with a fastback-like roofline.

Upon closer inspection, we can see that the model sports a textured finish on its rakish rear windscreen, while the rest of the quirky details, such as the illuminated fins and the F1-style rear brake light seen on the concept, might not make their way to the actual production version.

But perhaps the biggest surprise and mystery lies in the unnamed GR GT duo, where both of them appear to adopt a sporty two-door GT bodystyle with an elongated front bonnet and full-width LED taillights.

Besides the rough details shown in this teaser image, we’ve also been told that the new GR GT supercar will arrive in two versions, with the first one being a road-legal version. The second version, on the other hand, will be a more extreme, track-only version, potentially featuring some additional equipment such as a sporty bodykit, a fixed rear wing, sportier exhausts, and more.

On the powertrain front, the new GR GT duo is said to be powered by Toyota’s new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain setup, with the combustion engine capable of delivering up to 800 hp by itself. This is already enough to make the GR GT the most powerful model yet, thus explaining why it was initially touted as the spiritual successor to the legendary V10-powered Lexus LFA supercar.
As for the Lexus, the sporty coupe will also be powered by the same V8 hybrid powertrain setup, albeit with a more ‘subtle’ tuning made by Lexus. This also explained why the coupe is touted as the successor to the ongoing Lexus LC, instead of replacing the aforementioned LFA.
Fortunately, it won’t be too long before we get to see this trio in the flesh, as they will be unveiled later on Dec 5, with chairman Akio Toyoda and Toyota chief branding officer Simon Humphries hosting the special livestream event. Could this GR GT duo live up to the LFA’s legacy?
