Lexus took centre stage at JMS 2025 in Tokyo, Japan earlier this week with a radical trio of LS Concept machines led by a massive six-wheeled luxury MPV concept.

As teased prior, Toyota’s luxury arm Lexus showcased a radical six-wheeled luxury-MPV concept that it envisions could reinvent the L-marque’s flagship LS saloon nameplate in the future. Of course, that’s not all…
In fact, Lexus elected to showcase a trio of LS Concept machines, each offering their own distinct vision of what the LS nameplate could be reinvented into either in the immediate or long-term. With Toyota spinning off its ‘Century’ marque, perhaps a reinvention of Lexus’ flagship is due.

The leading Lexus LM Concept brings a radical reinvention of the LS nameplate into a massive luxury MPV. The marque argues this could be the future shape of the LS, not sedan or saloon shapes.

We’ll start with the radical LS concept and, as detailed prior from its teaser, the six-wheeled layout was chosen to maximise cabin space and comfort – hence the pair of smaller wheels for the rear, which minimises wheel arch incursion on board.
Lexus did not disclose any dimension figures, but we’re certain this radical concept luxury MPV is a sizeable thing in the flesh – it holds ample space for up to three rows of seats. What’s undeniable too is just how the cabin is also decked out luxuriously.

On board, the Lexus LS Concept seeks to mirror an experience akin to that of a business class airliner. From the looks of it, Lexus didn't miss the mark.

This is evident is the seats too which, aptly, is trying to mirror the experience of a business class airliner. Adding a calming ambience to match too are louvered side windows, whilst ‘chauffeurs’ tasked with piloting this concept in its hot seat get both a yoke-style steering plus twin digital gauges.
Lexus argues that this luxury MPV concept will become future of luxury mobility, not the traditional sedan or saloon shape. Some at the L-marque went as far as stating that ‘LS’ no longer stands for ‘Luxury Sedan’ and instead redefined as ‘Luxury Space’.

The other concept LS showcased was a more 'traditional' luxury coupe crossover type vehicle that packed rear-hinged rear doors amongst other things.

Of course, this radical six-wheeler wasn’t the only vision of the possible next-gen LS on show as Lexus also premiered a more ‘traditional’ LS Coupe Concept alongside too. This one sees a possible future where the LS evolves into a luxuriously sleek crossover coupe instead.
Sharp, edgy looks and stance masks the presence of both rear-hinged doors (rear doors that open rearwards) and pick-up truck-like tailgate opening granting easier access to a practical and large boot decked out in high-grade timber.

The LS Coupe Concept also boasts a unique pick-truck like tailgate opening (top). On board, it seats four and the cockpit gains both a yoke steering plus dual digital instrumentation, plus a massive passenger display.

On board, this LS Coupe Concept also boasts a bevy of futuristic tech to offset its high levels of luxe – the latter stemming from the high-end wood trims brimmed, amongst other things. The yoke-shaped steering is again adopted here, as are dual digital instrument clusters plus a large passenger display panel.
Given the current popularity of the SUV trend, resulting in rivals like BMW and Mercedes-Benz creating their respective X7 and GLS flagship SUVs range, this luxury coupe crossover vision arguably seems a lot more feasible for Lexus, especially in the immediate next few years.

Another radical reinvention of the Lexus LS comes in the form of this single-seat, self-driving micro-mobility three-wheeler that sports a novel jewel box cockpit opening.

Lastly comes the odd LS Micro Concept, which seeks to bring the renewed ‘Luxury Space’ concept mentioned in the scale of a personal mobility three-wheeler. Though it just seats one, it does so in equally high levels of luxe and tech as seen in the other larger two concepts detailed.
Notable bits touted by Lexus here include the cabin’s jewel box-like opening, the rich use of high-end wood trims again, though the absence of a steering or pedals – or anything remotely resembling which – perhaps indicate this is a full-self-driving micro-mobility machine.

Though tiny, the Lexus LS Micro Concept delivers the same high levels of luxe and tech as seen the larger two concepts.

Depending on what sort of passenger you are, with the LS Micro Concept, you’d either love the isolated space this single-seater provides, or loathe the claustrophobia it might induce. Either way, this is yet another distinct way to evolve the ‘LS’ nameplate by Lexus.
Well, what do you reckon then, folks? Should the LS be reinvented as either a luxo-MPV or luxury coupe crossover-type thing? Hit the comments below. You can also check out more images of all three concepts in the gallery prepared below…
